Wow. The officer has been fired and the kid got charged with evading arrest or something and that charge doesn't seem to have been dropped even though this is clearly a violation of his constitutional rights as well as that of his girlfriend who was in the passenger seat.

Uh, yeah, I agree with everyone else here. This pig should be in jail, there should be greater consequences for this too. This cop fired on a child, and "hindsight" doesn't work here because they had time to take that into account, yet they still fired.

I guess he's saying he thought the teenager realised it was a cop or at least someone dressed as one, and found it mildly amusing his first reaction was to gtfo. I don't think he's defending the cop in anyway, he's just sharing a thought he had. I had the same thought but was planning not to post it. It shows how everyone is scared of these monsters if anything. it's pretty fucked that we as a people are scared of the people paid to be the protectors of society

As for the story, yeah this cop is fucking nuts. Why can they can they even shoot in circumstances where someone's trying to just get away. It's a not a dangerous situation for the cop, just more work to follow them legally in their car. Shooting a gun at someone, potentially executing them, is such a ridiculous solution to 99.9% of scenarios.

Any outcome except the cop being jailed for this is just stupid. As if your first reaction on a suspicion, hell a whim that someone might be in a stolen car or w/E he thought is to pull your gun out and ambush like this. Fucking politely interrogate them at first, like knock on the window at least with no gun drawn

Terminated. Hopefully the kid sues. Some kind of psychopath if your first interaction is to aggressively tell them to get out of the car and then their reaction when a vehicle backs up is shoot to kill then play victim. I don't blame the kid for driving away after that. If anyone shot at me I would drive away too.

The kid is in critical condition on life support.

Hopefully he lives first.
