Man is startled as why the fuck is someone opening his door as he enjoys a hamburger.

Some kind of psychopath if your first interaction is to aggressively tell them to get out of the car and then their reaction when a vehicle backs up is shoot to kill then play victim. Irrelevant. He probably froze in panic and wasn't even sure if the officer was legit. In addition he has every right to evade improper search or detention. He frankly shouldn't be charged even if he punched the officer in the face or the officer was injured by the car.

Also citizens should have broad immunity to criminal or civil liability injury caused in reaction to an officer not following procedure/the law.

Opening their car door like that is stupid as hell. Someone could easily assume someone is trying to carjack them and drive off without even looking at the officer or think the officer is someone impersonating an officer.

The officer should be in prison for life or at least a decade or two and be permanent banned from law enforcement or owning, handling, or selling firearms.

Anyways if the DA's office pursues charges, they should [redacted]

they are charging him in an attempt to avoid a suit, but in the end it won't work. they will use the charge to lower the amount of money they pay him in negotiations. it wont work at all with a competent lawyer.

So what should happen is attempted murder, the teenager wasn't even driving the car the cop was looking for, and that start shooting random into a car with a passenger inside. He's only been terminated but really he should be in jail.

Imagine trying to kill a stranger on a job and all you get is fired IF and ONLY IF, you were just a begginner of said job:
