I liked the Bleach premier but lol comeon.

It's not an issue of the FMA thing, I haven't even seen Brotherhood, but the episode was just "good".

Bleach fans were out in force on day 1, which was surprising given the score of the original series. If you told me a series would hit 9.25 on MAL this season, the obvious guess is CSM

Bleach had a lot of return hype. The trailer had great looking visuals and NUMBER ONE so fans were excited since they never thought theyd get to see the rest of it animated. It does seem like whenever something beats FMA:B it gets voted down below it though

Chainsaw Man actually has a reverse problem where there were a LOT of people waiting to swoop in for the 1/10s that are already pissed about the series being overhyped. It's honestly surprising to me it made it at all.

To be frank, the more popular something is, the less valuable the reviews are. Bleach is in a unique situation where the haters are already over it, so really the only people down voting are the FMA people, compared to fresh batches of CSM downvoters.

And the MAL ranking is just a joke to begin with so like...yeah.

I don't even like Brotherhood as much as 03, so I find it extra hilarious. 03's pacing suited me better. But either way, treating Brotherhood (or OoT in Metacritic's case) as holier than thou says more about how stupid those people are for pulling that shit.

"Leveling up your internet cock" syndrome as Yahtzee would say. Imagine what those people are like in real life.

As for MAL, I find it useful IF a score is hovering around 6-6.5 or so. Anything lower than that must be trash for a reason.

I'm reminded I would have given Wonder Egg Priority a bomb just for it's ending of the rest of it wasn't decent enough.

I thought One Piece 1063 was going to have some crazy stuff considering how people were talking about it. While it was a good chapter, there wasnt like a ton of reveals on anything. I guess people just really loved Hawaiian Shirt Jimbe and Girl Law, and who could blame them?

Every week is gonna be crazy from now on so I just tune out the spoiler stuff

I've seen one episode. It was fine, but it's kinda lame that the sword can move on its own, and its pretty contrived how he came to be wielded by the catgirl. If HiDive wasn't a week behind, I'd keep up with it for the sake of discussing it. As it stands, I may come back to it later and watch it at my own pace, especially if it gets a dub.

I'm such a big fan of Raiku's art. His use of really clean simple backgrounds with an extremely high detail object of focus stands out so much, an even just a full page spread of a character standing there can leave a huge impression.

ok I wasn't too hot on this remake when it was announced but I guess I might have to check it out now... feels like I should rewatch original too, been a while

For some reason I wasn't expecting Wolfwood to appear so I marked out pretty hard there

First episode of The Little Lies We All Tell was really good! Not sure how much it'll appeal to everyone (the current 6.56 ranking on MAL isn't the best sign) but I enjoyed it a lot. If it maintains that level of quality, it'll easily be my anime of the season. The only real competition there so far is Do It Yourself, though. I thought the second episode of Akiba Maid War was super meh.

The first episode has the advantage of surprise. It would have been difficult for the second episode to match that even if all the veterans didn't come off as completely incompetent

I decided to check out Raven in the Inner Palace. I spoke too soon about that Lies anime being my favorite of the season. Raven is definitely a contender. I love supernatural historical stuff like this. The stories in the first three episodes have all been genuinely compelling on their own and full of world-building when taken as a whole. The Raven Consort and the Emperor are both good characters too. My only complaint so far is that I swear all the non-emperor guys look exactly alike and I can't tell them apart at all. I kind of wish I'd continued ignoring this until the end of the season because I really want to watch more right now.

Anyway, I wanted to watch at least ten non-sequel shows each season, but I'm stuck at eight. I just can't bring myself to start any of the isekai or romance ones, not until they're finished and I can hear whether they suck or not. I do plan on watching Chainsaw Man and that Gundam Mercury one once they're finished, so I guess this season ranking will have to do for now. My Master Has No Tail is the only crappy one so far, and even it's at least a 3/10 because tanuki girl is still cute. The farming anime is somehow managing to not suck but I wouldn't call it good. Akiba Maid War ep 2 was a letdown but I'm still hopeful it'll go interesting places. Everything above that is varying degrees of good to great so far.

well the first episode of the anime has a 29yo thirsting after a 17yo and has his mom saying how great of a match they would be. we're also supposed to sympathize with his boss, who seems even older and later thirsts after the same 17yo. neither of these actually advances the plot much.

the kid stuff is actually less creepy.

Wow, Management of a Novice Alchemist ep. 3 was a big step up from the previous ones! Very over the top and fun.

I need to catch up on these shows before I fall behind again. It's always SOMETHING distracting me.
