Would you say that you are "woke"?

Using the colloquial definition of woke here. What do you think?

Yeah, sure.

If you mean that if I were some sort of art creator and I included minorities in my art without having some sort of "justification"... also yeah, sure.

If by "woke", you mean against fascism, rascism, sexism, and general bigotry + anti-democratic behavior, then yeah, I guess you could consider me "woke" as fuck.

Honestly, it deeply disturbs me that simply wishing your neighbors would be treated as equal human beings is somehow considered a bad thing amongst a particular group of people. I'll never understand anti "woke"-ness.

Do you think people have different interpretations of the term? "Woke"ness is kind of vague.

Merriam-Webster defines the word as "aware of and actively attentive to important facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)". It's very clear-cut, with next to no room for misinterpretation. If anyone believes that it means anything beyond that, they should open a dictionary and see for themselves.

No, "woke" promotes all of those things. If you're against those things the word you're looking for is "anti-woke".

Psythik posted...

I think that's just more of an American value. The "woke" are anti-America, so what they value is treating everyone differently according to their race, sex, gender identity, and so forth.

Apparently they do.

Didn't Merriam-Webster also make "Literally" its own antonym because people kept misusing it?
"Woke" is an ironic pejorative term for people who are brainwashed by establishment media.
e.g. Look how self aware and cognizant of their own actions this person is while under hypnosis.

So when people dismiss CRT outright, it's because the idea threatens the traditional power structures and institutions of society that benefit them.

They recject the idea that racism could be systemic, that their existence contributes to the perpetuation of something horrible. They push aside the bad feelings they have and forge it into a crucible of hate for those that would dare suggest history is the road that led us here, rather then examine their own feelings and what they could do to make things better for everyone.

I never said that. Racism was a concern before CRT was thought up.

Here is a quote I found.
"The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination.

That is the sort of thing CRT promotes. Instead of condemning discrimination it is instead a useful tool so long as people discriminate the way they're told to. That creates systemic racism.

No, it's an example. Googling that quote leads me to a few interesting results.

The second is a PDF document called "We need discrimination today".

It reads as follows.
Ibram X. Kendi, in his book How to Be an Antiracist states, The only remedy to racist discrimination is antiracist discrimination. The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination. The only remedy to present discrimination is future discrimination.

The critics of critical race theory argue that a racist is one who treats people differently based on the color of their skin rather than the content of their character. CRT says the only way to exorcise Americas systemic racism is to make non-people of color to realize that they are racists because of their skin color, regardless of their character or heart.

Now, the first result for that quote is a letter from the Attorney General of Missouri, Eric Schmitt, to the Secretary of the Department of Education, Miguel Cardona, about Ibram X. Kendi's book, How to Be an Antiracist, being taught in schools.

Schmitt writes that:
Professor Kendi's absolutist view endorses overt racial discrimination
...
He posits that the "most threatening racist movement is ... the regular American's drive for a 'race neutral'" society.
