#26: Big Luci

We find ourselves alllll the way back to HUB City days. We saw Big Luci once since then, but only briefly.

Big Luci is part of the Bewitched crew (led by Tannarak) and is a demon? of sorts. I feel like we know a bit more of his backstory but it's hard to remember. Either way, he's currently allied up with Bewitched and we DO have a mission lined up that'll have us see them again, just, it's been a long while. Problem is, Tannarak wants the Spear of Destiny and we're sooooort of trying to stay on their good side. But we don't want to give it to them because we're PRETTY sure it's a bad idea. So whenever we decide to make a move on the spear, is when we'll probably? be cutting ties. Perhaps there's a way to win over some of the Bewitched crew before that happens.

Maybe Big Luci could be one of them. He's not too complicated. He's big, tough and doesn't give a fuck what people think about him. He also tried to hit on Minerva multiple times, but she wasn't biting.

Data 7 overall has had a pretty fun relationship with Big Luci so far. They "arm" wrestled atop a car after HUB city finished up and Data 7 did a fun combo attack with him back in the uh... I forget what the mission/area was called, but it was one I enjoyed a decent amount! I would love to see more Big Luci and the fact that he's probably from hell or is just in general a unique sort of being is alluring because becoming allies with someone like that could be a step in the door to... something?

We'll see what is in store for Bewitched and Big Luci once we get back on that storyline and I'm curious where it'll all go!

#25: Man-Bat (Kirk Langstrom)

Bit of a curveball here! I don't think anyone expected me to have ol Man Bat in my top 52.

I've talked a bit about Man-Bat alright in my opening post, but we've got a different beast here for C2.

For C1... Artemis ended up killing Man-Bat and was sort of guilted into bringing the body of his mortal enemy to Francine Langstrom (His Wife).

That's where it left off. That's how it SHOULD have ended. Artemis had gotten his revenge.

Funny thing though. Characters tend to not stay dead. even more so if you give them to someone who would very much do everything in their power to bring them back from the dead...

We didn't get to dive too much into the relationship between Artemis and Man-Bat... and I don't think there could have been much. Artemis was younger, all he knew was his lust for making sure the one that caused him so much pain and torture would no longer be able to do so.

This is where we get into C2. Man-Bat was brought back to life and we happened upon him during one of our first trips to Gotham. And he was in the care of one Magdalene Kyle (Catwoman's Sister).

The difference is that he seems very different, more animal-like in appearance as well as personality and mannerisms. Man-Bat couldn't even really tell that the creature (Data 7) standing before him was someone who he had put through so much pain. And even more so, Man-Bat was curious about Data 7.

Data 7 didn't know how to react to this. After all his mortal enemy had just come back from the dead and was getting up close and personal with him. And ESPECIALLY so after Man-Bat took out an OMAC for them. Magdalene wants us to take out a Fury in Gotham and bring Man-Bat along to help do so.

And that's currently where that's been left off. Data 7 has had a bunch of chats though ABOUT Man-Bat and the fact that he's alive again. It's been an interesting topic and was one of my more favorite talks that I had with Rex about.

Does Data 7 want to get revenge again? Or was killing him the one time enough? It's almost like Kirk doesn't even exist in the creature anymore? And furthermore, Man-Bat was the one who GAVE Artemis his abilities in the first place. Sure it was for research and he didn't care about the pain he caused... but the fact of the matter is, Data 7 / Artemis wouldn't be who he was without his abilities. He wouldn't have these friends and he wouldn't have the strength to protect them. He'd have just been a regular dog.

I think there's a lot to explore with Man-Bat as well as those ideas and I'm a bit sad that we haven't exactly dug more into that. There's a ton of different storylines in Gotham that are being pushed so Man-Bat stuff has been on the backburner for over a year+. We were even told for early Gotham that Man-Bat could have been the leader of the Underground if things had gone differently.

I'm a bit sad that's not the direction things went because I think it could have made for a few really cool scenes and development for both Man-Bat and Data 7. I hope we can dig into Man-Bat stuff soon but I won't be holding my breath, I understand there are reservations in wanting to work with Magdalene in the first place.

Hint for #24:

This character has a VERY low (I'm assuming) knowledge stat.

Yeah, I agree that there is a lot to explore still between Artemis and Man-Bat. Some of it comes out of necessity, too, and I think Artemis understands that it's very difficult to turn away an ally, even an ally with such a complicated history as Man-Bat's. I look forward to it!

#24: Bud the Hyena

One of Harley's no-so little babies!

This is one character that Artemis built up a relationship back in C1 so he definitely gets a boost from there. I'm not sure he'd make the list YET from just C2 stuff, but who knows!

Of Bud and Lou, Bud is definitely the more crazy and not all there of the two. He's very unpredictable and can get upset out of no where, certain keywords can set him off. But he's also goofy and just fun to be around. Artemis would often take trips to the north side of Gotham and visit Bud, often getting up to mischief.

Lou was definitely 2nd hyena in C1 but his presence was still there. He does his best to look out for Bud but is also kind of just a jerk. He's always angry and always has his mind set on his mommy (HQ) and making sure Bud stays on the right course.

Going into C2, things have changed quite a bit for these two hyenas. They were separated from Harley but are still both in Gotham and they've been taken under the wing of Oracle who sends them out on little missions with GoPros. I'm pretty sure they were roped in by Bat Cow because I don't think Oracle would be able to round these two up on her own, but as it stands, they are currently assisting Oracle whenever she can utilize them.

Which... unfortunately is why Bud and Lou rank a bit lower than they might otherwise, since they are in Gotham helping Oracle, Data 7 only gets to see them every so often, since they aren't at Z'onn Z'orr. So content with Bud and Lou has been a bit less compared to C1.

Data 7 has informed them that Harley is waiting for them at Z'onn Z'orr, but Oracle still needs their help. Hopefully we'll be able to bring them back soon!

One new problem that has arisen with the two... is that Bud is getting used to Oracle... and is even calling her new mommy!

That's a problem... well... a problem for Lou. As he's always trying to keep Bud on the right track, this new revelation is pissing him off (he's always upset), so we'll see what comes of that.

As much as I love Bud's antics and his unpredictable nature, I do actually quite enjoy Lou as well. It's definitely easier to converse with the character and it helps to get a bit more insight into the lives of the two hyenas through him.

Hint for #23:

Data 7 was not on the mission that introduced this character!

Bud and Lou have a higher Knowledge than some animals, but they also have their mental instabilities so it balances out. I think Lou has been the more interesting of the pair this campaign, oddly enough.

Tough clue here... I have a hard time keeping track of who is on what mission. I think the answer could conceivably be Prowley.

#23: Pirate

This is how Pirate talks and he is adorable. I love this little guy... well, maybe not so little, he pilots a sorta mech.

I wasn't part of the session that Pirate debut in but I was definitely around to listen to most of it.

Actually, funny story. I was at work when Pirate was being first introduced and had discord voice running through my phone. I was cleaning around the clinic while Scar was doing the Pirate voice.

The Dr. next to me was like... "What in the world are you listening to?!"

I'm like... well... there's this rabbit... and y'know what? I'm not even really sure.

Good times.

Pirate was brought back to Z'onn Z'orr and we are planning on going out to look for his buddies, the rest of We3. Tinker and Bandit.

It's been awhile...

But during this wait period, Data 7 has gotten to know Pirate a bit better and they shared a tender moment about both being test subjects. Data 7 was curious about all the mechanical bits on his head and Pirate was able to tell him a bit about it in his broken English. It'd be neat if we were able to meet Tinker and Bandit soon, I feel like there might be a cool storyline involving the three, or at least, we'll have three badass part animal part mechs/robots.

Pirate himself is incredibly sweet and always tries to do his best and not harm anyone, despite his machinery being built for destruction.

Ooooh, Olin's a really good guess. I was struggling to think who else was left in the animal department from early on.

#22: Olin Penguin

Oh no! It's an equated penguin! How could the world have come to this...

Well... He might have red beady eyes, but surprisingly, he ain't equated. None of the penguins of Crown Penguinland are. But they ARE evil.

Not TOO soon after finding ourselves at Z'onn Z'orr, we braved a journey to the surface of Antarctica to see what there was to see. Eventually we came across Olin, and, in Data 7 fashion, he went up to talk to the penguin. The red eyes being one of the first things we were told about him, instantly I think all of our minds went to these penguins all being equated. But no, they are just assholes and wanted to kill all of us. And so we fell into Olin's trap and had to fight a bunch of penguins and a giant penguin that came back later and became a giant zombieish penguin.

Anyways, during the fight, we were mostly trying to escape. But Data 7 wanted a prisoner... or at least someone who would talk about what the heck these penguins were up to, so he snagged Olin just as they were about to flee.

We then had a fun chase scene. But after everything, Data 7 was able to bring this nasty little penguin back for questioning.

And so questioning and deal making occured!

Apparently the reason these penguins were all evil-like was because of the Justice League of Antarctica, though the actual reason may remain to be seen. Something something animal testing, something something being mean to penguins.

I mean, he might be right, but it's hard to say either way!

Data 7 wants to work with Olin though because he HAD an army of tons and tons of penguins that could be useful in the war against Darkseid. So... he made a deal with the penguin, which was to bring G'nort (A Dogish Green Lantern) to Olin for him to deliver his judgment.

Problem is, Data 7 has NO idea where G'nort is, and even getting to space and asking around Oa hasn't provided many details. It seems as so these penguins, and Olin will have to wait.

In the meantime, Data 7 visits Olin and likes to fight with him most of the time. And also bring him cupcakes.

Data 7 ALSO likes to bring him the salves he makes to try on Olin... WHO IS WILLING TO TRY THEM OK?

Since Olin is kind of a jerk, he's usually quite up for fighting with Data 7 as well as trying out these salves that make him stronger in different ways.

Oh! I forgot the most important thing.

Olin is voiced by Owen Wilson! That's really all you need to know.

#21: Winged Victory

Loyal steed to the Shining Knight, Winged Victory rounds out the last spot before the top 20!

Winged Victory is a lot of fun and I can tell Scar has a lot of fun playing him as well. The flying horse is a philosopher and as such, if you let him speak, he will.

Data 7 is writing his tales of the past into a book for him. A book about all sorts of extinct or rare creatures. (Data 7 learned how to write back in C1 when he went to school, he never got to go to college even though he was saving up for it though...)

Anyways, Victory has been a ton of help to Big Troubles as well! He was commissioned to assist with his flight in their first mission and now has a permanent spot on their roster. Considering the rest of the crew in Big Troubles, it's nice to have a solid, sagely member that CAN fight as well, if the need arise.

Winged Victory also came to Justin's (The Shining Knight) aid in Brennus' metabrawl battle. Brennus was just about to win but then Victory flew in just at the last moment and took him down!

This would LIKELY be counted as cheating by most, especially Brennus, but it seemed like a cool moment at the time and I don't think the crowd really cared about it being a 2 on 1 for that brief moment.

Will Brennus get his revenge on the absolutely innocent Winged Victory?

Only Time Will Tell...

Either way, Data 7 will continue to go to Winged Victory to have him recount tales of his past and write them down into the book they are making together. They are always such a pleasure to read!

This character has been ranked a few times by other people!

Oh, wow. I wouldn't have guessed Victory at this high a level. I think Victory's stories are a delight to put together, and I'm flattered you enjoy them.
