Hey, *shrug* you do you and enjoy your $40 dollar Big Mac meal. It's just not worth it to me to pay that much on top of already steadily rising food prices to have it delivered to me.

If it is to you, great.

I mean I'm gonna get something a little nicer than McDonald's, but yeah you seem to get the gist.

I consider the tip paying for the convenience and saving time and i have dashpass free with my credit card so the slight increase in food price is for letting my use the app since i domt have to much other fees.

Im a cheap guy most of the time until its for convenience or saves me time or work.
I only ever started doordash when i had my kid so i consider the convenience of not having to get him in his car seat which he hates and go to a place where i have to take him out and put him back in the car.
Also have to take him at the right time or else he will start crying right away when i drive.

I was always that person who would never use a doordash because i could just pick it up myself and im cheap. But situations change and i love doordash.
They always have deals and stuff too which sort of evens out the inflated prices so i just take a loss for the tip.

I don't use delivery services. And I rarely ever use a service where I'm expected to tip (and I tip well when I do).

I agree that drivers should be paid better. But that's not the reality we're living in. Until it is, no fucking sympathy for cheapskates abusing a system.

so just to be clear:

8.75 is the price for an entree/2sides

on the app is 11.75
plus delivery fee, tax, and other fees:

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/5/8/2/AAW4eUAADqwu.jpg

So paying 19.85 for a 8.75 meal, before tip, is being a cheapskate and abusing the system lmao?

get fucking real. Im someone who tips 20% when I Postmates or Ubereats, which I rarely do now, cause its a fucking joke. But as said before you people defending this shit as thats just how it is are what we call enablers.

Youre absolutely a bigger problem for delivery drivers than people who dont tip imo.

You have to tip on top of that?? Fucking hell that app/industry is a scam lmao murica

Why is the delivery fee so low compared to the 'other fees'? Are any of these 'fees' going to the driver at least?

i dont believe so. I know the driver gets a portion of it but Im pretty sure they get the delivery fee or something.

its absolutely absurd, and Postmates/door dash arent much better. Its why Id rather the companies go under and something better spring up, the $11 extra Id be paying for that delivery should be split like 4-7 or 5-6 for company-driver.

oh absolutely, I feel like that would make more sense. Hell even something similar to like Fiverr or something with the opinion for delivery drivers to be notified of new offers or something.

i could dig #27 for sure though, that would be better for all parties aside from the businesses pocketing all that extra cash.

The difference is that, unlike a waitress, there's absolutely nothing the driver can do.

Is a food item missing? Most restaurants are tying or otherwise sealing their bags, and drivers are explicitly not allowed to open the bags to check them on pickup. It's meant to prevent tampering, theft, contamination, etc. Sucks, but other than reading the receipt there's basically nothing that the driver is allowed to do. They will get immediately deactivated if a customer reports their food bag was opened.

Wrong order? Sucks, and the driver should be dinged, but there's absolutely no point in sending the driver back to pick up an order that 1) was already marked as picked up on the restaurant's side, and thus thrown away, or 2) cold as hell in the best case.

Delivered to the wrong place? Again, shit move and the driver should be punished. But the driver isn't going to go back and get it. Especially since there's a decently hight chance whoever it was left with now has it, and probably won't just give it back. That's a potentially dangerous confrontation waiting to happen.

I get that it sucks, but after the delivery is done, there's basically nothing more a driver can or should do. It's down to the app's support to make it right. Unless you just want to yell at the driver. Which is exactly why they don't take communication after delivery.

Sure, you cant go in the bag (which in itself is a different problem). But you can at least make sure the right person gets it. Which would require more care when actually delivering it It might take a little longer, but its literally the one thing you have to do correctly And because you cant communicate, the driver probably doesnt care much about doing their job right. Door dash could re-order the food and send you to do a better job this time, but Door dash just refunds the customer while still letting the driver fuck up elsewhere

FLAMING_EVIL_HOMER posted...
Lol idk why other people get so mad and try to call restaurants or their driver but im just okay with the refunds they give and leave it at that.

I would think because they are hungry

mybbqrules posted...
If you're too fucking lazy to go pick it up yourself, you don't really need it.

I've never used a food delivery service and I never will.

Not true at all Some people have reasons why they cant pick it up. Like work, watching a bunch of kids, injured, etc Not being able to pick it up isnt always laziness, nor does it mean they dont really need it

I dont waste money on those shitty services, either But Im not going to shit on people who do

I understand that, but stuff like calling the restaurant or trying to call the driver is a waste of energy because they arent gonna do anything. Better to order something else quick so you can get food quicker or go out and get something. Then report your missing items and get your refund through app.

And it really isnt a scam since people using them know how over priced the food is and aware of all the fees at checkout.
Where they go, i couldnt care less.
Im sure they have employees they have to pay who work the app and customer service or something too.

Some else mentioned this, I believe. But it could be a heat of the moment thing And may not know that they cant do anything about it And while you say to order something else, to them, that probably sounds like a bad idea since the whole problem is from trying to order something. Plus, it would suck if the same driver made the same stupid mistake again by accepting the next request, as well

The drivers sometimes drive by the area so they can pretend they delivered so they can steal the food. The apps won't give a refund since it will show up as delivered.

On just eat in the UK, you pay the same price plus delivery and a 50p fee. Delivery is anywhere between free or 4 (Most places around here it's 2)

It actually does. And all they actually require is for you to submit a picture. If a dasher steals the food the customer can report it and get refunded. The driver can just say he didn't do it, and the app will take his side too.

They give zero fucks on either end because they're getting there money from the restaurant itself.

Everything else we, we are just assuming they could have meant regular subway price before doordash and etc. I didnt read the thread other then the screenshot.
But with doordash and etc, the price is about 80$ before the tip.

While its true that the original never stated whether it was with it without the DD price, chances are it was without. The reason is that it wouldnt make sense for the GF to give the price of the subs with DD. She works at subway, and not DD. So shed most likely give the Subway price. She could have given DD prices, but that would only be if she knew it was DD. It could have been DD, UberEats, Grubhub, etc Or it could have just been a normal online order that could have had a person coming to pick it up themselves
