Oh, and what do Spellbooks even do? I bought one of the structure decks to grab the Fortune Lady synchro (someone called it "Mirrorjade at Home" lol). I assume theyre casual-tier but if they're fun I might get two more sets.

I made a blind second Madolche deck. The deck doesn't really function going first without the Link monster but a sealed environment is not as punishing going second.

I might try pure Lyrulusc but I'm too used to Tribrigade link monsters to help climb up.

Tbh I just had a streak of loaner opponents. Towards the end of my streak I was finding more original decks. I expect progress to be slower from here lol.

Lol, I also fought such decks. Just one negate usually makes them surrender

Well, I was going to play Yosenjus for the Festival, but considering I went 0-10 with them because I couldn't get one Yosenju to stick on the board without it being negated... yeah, just gonna throw SS Tenyi at it. Maybe see if I can make Zoodiacs for the XYZ half of things.

Man, opponents having 3 Ash and Maxx C really is different.

edit: Man, Swordsouls suck.

Man I had the best duel ever to open this event. Dude was running Swordsouls and I managed to get him to about 2500 LP left. I then managed to get Lava Golem to his field and then just stalled and stalled and stalled until Lava Golem killed him with its effect damage LOL He was gonna win that duel too. I was against the wall the whole duel

I learned of a funny tech against Maxx C if you are playing a deck that has to summon a lot. Heavy Slump.

In the end I used my synchro deck to climb the medals, surrendering when I bricked and when opponent is playing Swordsouls, as well as getting wins when my opponent saw Junk Synchron.

But the deck bricks sooo much, losing two Converters hurts incredibly hard.

Kinda same my dude. Im not going back into the knife fight quite yet but that was a perfect way to sum up that damn sword soul deck. Its one of the best loaner decks Ive ever seen in terms of power and construction. People barely have to do much to win with it I feel, where Im here tooth and nail trying to stop them.

Ah cool the stupid equip a bunch cards to a card that can attack multiple times deck is still a thing you can do in the festival.

I'm glad I didn't try to build an actual deck for this format.

It's harder to do in this one though (compared to the extra zero festival where it was popular) since most decks will be able to set up at least a negate or two from the extra deck. You'd have to somehow draw enough removal to get past the negates and enough equip spells to make sure you do enough damage for the OTK. Maxx C can make that possible, but you won't draw/resolve that every game.

Plus there are extra missions for actually performing Synchro/Xyz summons, which the Ben Kei deck does neither.

that moment when you missed lethal, because you forgot to activate a card before hitting BP

Now that I think of it, the only way for my synchro deck to stop Benkei/Mataza attacking is Scrap Iron Scarecrow (and Solemn Judgement on summon) because I have not ever successful in summoning Cosmic Blazar consistently.

Crystal Wing cannot even run it over because they are less than Lv 5, lol, something I conveniently forget.

Metaphys Horus is so fucking clutch. Beat Water Xyz by Pendulum summoning to beat over Toad, Pendulumgraph to out Utopic Draco Future, then going into Horus to steal their last Xyx and use it to make my own Zeus. Because Zeus's text doesn't specify that it needs to be your Xyz monster that battled. That's some Futurama "technically correct" shit lmao

300 secs time limit does not stop them from going through their cards. At all. In fact this user does it like it play itself and I was wondering whether they will time out or not.

I scooped out of that match because my hand bricked.

That card was Pot of Avarice. And they started their whole schtick all over again.

Flower Cardians are simultaneously the best and worst argument for a "special summon limit" in Yugioh

On one hand they summon basically infinitely only to do nothing. Clearly summoning is not an overpowered mechanich if the end result is mid.

On the other hand holy shit finish your goddamn turn already lol

Makes me want to pull Dragunity. I thought they can make pretty good & efficient engines (Dragonmaid/Red-Eyes with Dragunity engine is a thing, after all) and I love Dragunity's aesthetic.

I have 9.8k gems anyway.

On another note, do any of you know when the other Red-Eyes cards (Alternative, Soul, Black Meteor) will appear in MD based on OCG/TCG timeframe?

Sinister Sovereign is the absolute bane of my Pendulum deck's existence since he can always banish at least one of my scales for free.

I think I'm gonna take the Magistus package out of Exosisters and try a memey trap build. Maybe throw in all my Solemns. (Heh...get it? They're nuns. And the Solemn guy is god. I'm a comedy mastermind)

Bad day to duel. Lost in all but 3 duels (either brick, Junk Speeder got Impermed, that Zoodiac player drew their HFD while I tried to stall with Scrap-Iron Scarecrow, my stupidity, etc).

I tried to synchro Satellite Warrior on opponent's turn (ACCEL SYNCHRO) but then I read it needs 'non-tuner Synchro Monsters'.

Man, what a brainfart moment.

On a side note, sometimes I notice different soundclips used for Synchro summon. It is minor, but it is there.

Yeah, that was confusing.

Like their endboard is only two Flower Cardigans that burns you for 1500 each when you draw during draw phase. It isn't even lethal??

If I didn't brick I might have a chance at beating them.

Edit: oh, so their aim is to make the opponent go into draw phase more often so they'll burn themselves.

I fully remember why I dropped Maxx C and Ash in my Harpie deck.

Drew both Maxx Cs, an Ash, and 2 Feather Storms.

Ran into some chucklefuck whose deck was nothing but griefing hand traps. Wouldn't even be mad except they also decided to stall out the timer. Fuck em, managed get finish my Xyz summon mission that round anyway. >__>

I just realized that Cyber Dragon Nova & Infinity is a good EX deck option for Gaia if I could manage 2 Lv 5 mons on the field.

Weaker than Baronne, but has more negates and a monster removal assuming it is not yeeted off the board by the twist of fate.

There are so many good one offs off other secret packs this feels almost evil.

Nova needs machine monsters unfortunately. Unless Gaia uses machines I don't know about. (Free Ptolemaeus, Konami you cowards!)

Supreme King Clear Wing is insta-win against people who don't read. Blue-Eyes turned into a hilarious self-burn deck. >____>

Now I just wait until the new missions drop. Have ~3000 gems currently. Gotta keep saving.

So I hard swerved and now I have Cardians online! One of my favorite Archtypes of all time. Its such a dumb deck that has a fun theme. I even still have the deck in paper as well.

Its actually been pretty great in the event too. People dont read what Lightflare does. A resonator player really misplayed by attacking into it.

It feels so honest but half like Im trolling at the same time, but in the end I cant help it if they dont read a card.

Literacy is a player skill. If they dont read that just means you're the better player. Nice though.

I just read about that card and the only way my own synchro deck can out it is if I have RDA Abyss negating its effect first then have Crystal Wing smashes into it.

But then again, RDA doesn't really have built-in on-demand removal that does not come with its own side effect, so they kinda need RDA Abyss to run it over normally.

This was before I looked up some replays and realized I needed to be more agressive. You can make boards that have both Lightshower and Lightflare! That means blanket trageting protection including Lightshower itself. So you have to run over Lightshower first.

I am a bit lucky that I played the deck a lot before this and if anything I was playing some effects wrong for years. Cardians some times dont have the once per turn clause in their text. Im thinking about expanding out the deck even more.

Sucks that Ive hit the UR protection twice on the current selection pack in the last 4 thousand gems. So Im very low on even fodder for UR points. The Duel Pass is carrying the hell out of me right now.

I switched my deck to pure Zoo Paleo, and I've only lost 1 duel where I could not draw a Zoo nor more than 1 Paleo for the life of me. Honestly way better than I thought it ever would've been.

Also I literally just learned what Edison format was, and it all makes sense now tbh lol.

It's basically the plant synchro 2010 format huh. I mean that makes a lot of sense. In general, a lot of people talk about it as the most skillful format to have ever existed. It's actually when I first started actually learning to play YGO too, cuz of the DS game at the time teaching me all the rules.

I think it's also on the near end of Tele-DAD format too, where DAD was like a good card to splash into some decks, but the format now had synchros to balance everything out.

I'm shocked that it wasn't the Nekroz format actually, but maybe that format was a bit too centered around 3 archetype rock paper scissors. DRulers was also a 2 deck format. Edison era by comparison was like GOAT but with actual strategies that modern YGOs base everything around even now.

Just need 3 more synchro summons. Dang it is hard to get.

Then I can switch to Suship, a deck I completely have no experience with, so I will just do whatever on the fly.

Step 3: Summon Shinobaron and put Lava Golem back in my hand.

Kaijus and (if your deck doesn't really need its normal summon) Lava Golem are a godsend when going second. Lava Golem is putting in work in my Drytron deck for the event too.

Lava Golem is a low key mvp if you can fit it into your deck. Especially In this event when your going up against sword soul and other summon heavy decks.

I think Konami finally got the ban list right where there isnt any super rogue deck that squeaked in that ignores the theme. As much as I like Floo they could have been a damn meance
