i've called the police 10+ times in my entire life. examples:

• got into a car accident. called the police to make a report.
• i'm a security guard. in the almost 3 years i've been here, i've had to call at least 10 times because of people loitering on property that refuse to leave
• one time as a security guard, i called 911 because a person claimed they were having chest pain. i let the operator know about their symptoms. the ambulance came and picked them up. i'm fairly positive it was a homeless person who was faking the whole thing, but i treated it like it was 100% legitimate.

what about you? it's too personal, you don't have to say.

My only encounter with law enforcement is when my school sent some to check on me cause I was missing. I was just really sick, I dunno why they'd do this.

My Note 3 made it ridiculously easy to pocket dial 911 so probably about 7 or 8 from that, never for anything else tho.

Once. Upstairs neighbours were crying and screaming. I'm pretty sure it was just some dramatic argument, but it was part wellness check and part shut the fuck up it's 2am.

All the time to come serve a warrant

Once after my apartment was broken into. Then a second time a week later when someone (probably the same person) tried to get in my front door while I was home.

Lmao fuckin never. Never would either.

Once when I wrecked my truck

At a past place I lived, my roommate and I called the cops on two separate occasions when we could hear the guy in the apartment below us beating the shit out of his wife.

Now that I think about it, never. And I like cops.

Once for a wellness check after I got some disturbing phone calls from a girl, and I wasnt in town. Everything turned out fine ig

about 4 or 5 times. mostly for breakins

Once in middle school when a teacher and a group of us heard a car wreck. I called 911. In retrospect, was obvious, the driver was drunk/on drugs, as he rapidly tried to flee. At the time I just thought he was in shock.

I called another time to report a wreck I witnessed when I was older.

I've also called highway patrol a few times to report suspected impaired drivers. I don't think they caught any of them.

3 times. once on a suicidal family member (which really sucked). once on a robber who was coming in to a friends places window when i was staying over (had to keep him there at gun point). and again from some crackhead who thought it was a good idea to take some random shots at a couple utility workers trying to do their job (me).

Once, maybe twice.

My mom would often times request me to call them when my dad got violent.

It was always kinda scary as a kid because my dad would immediately find me and question why Im calling. And often times the police wont do anything.

Thus.

Ive never cared for the police.

I called the police ...

Once when there was some ducks on the interstate.

5 times that I can recall.

One for a suspected DUI (Dude was all over the road and nearly clipped a semi).

Another time when a bunch of drunk dudes attacked some of my friends at the beach with bear mace and a golf club. Ended up with a them getting pinched a short time later.

Once at work when some homeless guy was harassing people outside.

And twice in the same day when I had an ex girlfriend go insane on me.

Ive had a lot of interactions with the police, but most were in college for stupid stuff like massive parties that were out of control or when my roommate gave them a fake name as a joke.

Just once

We had some dodgy neighbors. On New Years they were incredibly drunk and aggressive. They were smashing glass bottles, yelling and screaming, and threatening to kill each other.

Once to report a car that was illegally parked by an alley for three days straight.

I dont remember every calling the police. Its best to avoid them when you can.

Couple times I think

Enough times to force Sting to get a restraining order.

This is a joke.

A couple of times on my brother when he was destroying things in the house and beating me and my mom. Once to report an erratic driver on the freeway.

Once when my Honda got stolen from a movie theater parking lot.

0 times, although I was in the car when my mom called 911 after she hit a deer.

I've never personally called them.

Only 3 times for me.

• Our house got broken into when I was in high school. They stole most of my games. I was too nervous to be in the house alone, so I went to a neighbor's house and called the police. They were never caught though.
• Also when I was in high school, this couple got into an argument outside our house. The guy hit her, then got in his car and sped off. I called the police and waited with her until they arrived. Apparently they lived in another county. No idea why they were in my neighborhood with their drama
• This one was as an adult. Someone stole the battery out of my car overnight. I thought my battery was just dead, so I called triple A. The guy got there and said they had been replacing batteries in the neighborhood all morning. For that one though, the police told me to go file a report at the station.

I called the police when I got robbed delivering food, when I got a fake 20, and when my my license plate got stolen.

Never, and I'm pro-police.

I was never in a position where I needed to.

I think just once, about a year ago. A homeless guy tried to mug me and I called 911 after I got away and he was out of sight.

heard some noises outside my apartment and saw like 6 people all in dark clothes trying to get in the window the floor below mine. called the cops, they sent someone out and said it was just a guy who forgot his key trying to get in. a little while later they smashed the window so I called again

On a serious note, I've never called myself, but I had them called on me (wrongfully). Heard a knock, looked out, and saw a gun in my face.... Ugh...

I call to confirm the status of active warrants lol

For personal life:

• Suicidal family member that drove off in the middle of the night.
• My license plate was stolen and I needed to have a police report filed to fight a toll bill that wasn't mine. Huge semi truck was caught on camera with my dinky college pride bordered plate slapped on the front.
• Same car got stolen a few years later. Called the police and they confirmed it had been used in a high speed chase across the county before being impounded.
• Called them this year on a neighbor throwing a week-long massive house party across the street. It was genuinely unsafe and the party goers were getting drunk, fighting, driving over yards, and so on, all while blasting music that could be heard several streets over. Cops never came once that week despite apparently receiving multiple calls from other neighbors.

Literally never interacted with law enforcement in my life

Once. Drunk guy running into telephone poles and laying in the middle of the street. Didnt want to see a guy splattered in front of my house.

3 total. Twice for accidents I saw, and once for a fight happening outside a friends place.

Probably a hundred or so. I worked in a somewhat bad part of Atlanta for many years, lot of incidents pretty frequently there.

once when i was a kid as a "prank". the police arrived and my parents had to explain to them that i was being silly :)

Ive wondered what youre supposed to do if youre in a fender-bender. Obviously you shouldnt call 911 since its not an emergency, but should you call the number for the nearest police station? Or just exchange insurance info with the other driver and never call the police?

Twice, on the same person. All I'll say is my sister has terrible taste in men and is way too forgiving.

Tbh I'm not completely sure. When I got into my car accident, I just called 911, even though it was not life-threatening at all. I figured it was fine because it was urgent. But the police response time was still very poor (2 hours).
