I would go with My War for this topic series tbh.

This album was very ok but ultimately pretty forgettable unfortunately. Most songs kinda blended together

  1. Eight of Nine
  2. The Saddest Song
  3. So Long, Astoria
  4. All You Can Ever Learn is What You Already Know
  5. Takeoffs and Landings
  6. Looking Back on Tuesday
  7. Unopened Letter to the World
  8. The Boys of Summer
  9. The Hero Dies in This One
  10. Radio #2
  11. The Saddest Song (Acoustic) [suddenly sounds much tackier like this imo]
  12. My Reply
  13. Summer '79
  14. In This Diary
  15. I Won't Spend Another Night Alone

  1. The Boys of Summer - The Henley original is a favorite of mine, and this cover preserves enough of its appeal.
  2. Takeoffs and Landings
  3. The Saddest Song (Acoustic) - I can say what I want, but really, I prefer this version purely because its the closer.
  4. My Reply
  5. So Long, Astoria
  6. The Saddest Song
  7. In My Diary
  8. Looking Back on Tuesday
  9. I Wont Spend Another Night Alone
  10. Radio #2
  11. Summer 79
  12. Eight of Nine
  13. All You Can Ever Learn is What You Already Know
  14. Unopened Letter
  15. The Hero Dies in This One

Also, before I forget again, perhaps the next two OPs could have links to the Rank the Albums topic (with reminders that there's no need to listen to the whole list), or maybe separate posts would work better?

The Black Flag reference isn't off putting to me, but it does make me question some things. Henry Rollins, a VERY prolific speaker has said that they made sure the Black Flag logo was very distinct and distinguishable... they made it to sell it, even for generations to come. But who says The Grateful Dead didn't do exactly that? So the question then is... is it actually disingenuous to slap either of those logos on a symbol of wealth and luxury when those logos were in fact meant to make make money. Who is the hypocrite here... the bands that "sold out" or the artists that would try to sell a song by name dropping those bands?

Capitalism. You have it or you don't. That's a fallacy... You know, because you have it. (>_>)

15. The Saddest Song

Updated list to add the acoustic version of The Saddest Song. Id say its better than the regular version but theyre still my least favorite tracks on the album. The acoustic version at least ups the emotional weight of the song a bit. Considering the subject matter, I thought the regular version was a little flat in the emotion department.
