Well, you should. It needs to be said, apparently, that abuse is abuse and abuse needs to be reported. Make sure the police know. Even if you don't file charges, there should be police reports to document the abuse. That will make it easier to press charges and/or get a restraining order when the abuse continues (and it will continue)

It definitely is, but predictably some of my co-workers who are right leaning are making fun of the husband right now because they said it was a severe over reaction to calling the cops for two slaps. Sometimes traditions are hard to erase, but it slowly goes away.

Unfortunately some critics of men seeking help as victims include women as well as people who are predominately left-leaning. Because of society's common place habit of associating all regressive perspectives with the right, they have a tendency to forget there's possibilities of advocates of the left also displaying similarly discriminative outlooks and rationalizing it.

Worked along side a woman who was an outspoken feminist and protestor for #MeToo like it was the center of her identity. Super Hillary Clinton booster. She berated any male employees who neglected to join feminist protests (even for vital reasons like family, work or health concerns). Not a peep towards the women employees though. She made it clear she was all about fighting violence against women.

However, this same coworker had no problems casually admitting several times that the reason her fianc left her was she was physically and dismissively abusive towards him. We all met him, he was larger at 6'4" to her 5'5". She admitted he never got aggressive with her, but she would slap his head or punch him in the back to "help him man up" to mold him into the man she wanted. This was apparently a trend with her exes too. Part of the reason he left was he had gotten so upset at the last time she hit him that he took his rage out on a piece of furniture and she called the cops. When the fianc almost got cuffed on account of being a target of this woman's abuse, he called it quits.

One of our coworkers called her out on the hypocrisy and she immediately excused it with the notion "it's a man's role to restrain himself from getting physically violent" while also implying that women should not be expected to because of historical oppression. Hearing that you might think she's actually rightwing, and you would be wrong. She's predominately left-leaning in action, goals and ideology. She just excused the double standards with Olympic Victimhood rhetoric and exploited common feminist talking points to back it up.

You could argue "no true Scotsman", but she IS a type of feminist. The worst kind. And despite being an outspoken left-leaning ideologue, her rhetoric very much relegated men to only being useful as providers and drones for the sake of women. When looking at the extremes of both far left and far right ideology, some very noticeable similarities appear when it comes to the roles of men: expendable. The point is a modern person does not have to be rightwing in perspective to adopt popularized notions on how to discriminate towards the opposite sex, a discovery I was sad to see in my youth.

I'm surprised they actually arrested her. Usually if a woman is the alleged aggressor, they either don't do anything or take the man in. If you get a real POS, the abusive woman, the might even give themselves injuries and then claim you did it.

Now, I know it isn't common for a woman to be the aggressor, but when they are, it should be taken seriously. We should aim for zero tolerance of DV, regardless of gender.

She slapped him like twice. She claims he cheating on her. I don't condone violence, but slaps don't make her an automatic POS, unless there has been a history of it. Sounds like a spur of the moment thing. Not really something worth calling the cops over in this situation.
