Was expecting to say something along the lines of having strong feelings across all 3 matches, but I wound up enjoying LIN NE a lot more than I was expecting to. Too bad I also enjoyed it's opponent quite a bit, too.

Match 2 is again pretty close today, it's only the chaos that occurs in Nocturne starting at 5:50 that puts it over the edge for me

Wow, 1st and 2nd match are actually tough as hell votes. Nocturne is deeply fantastic jazz, and Fine Weather it's the music that puts me in a great mood. I feel solid on my choices though, I love them a lot. As for the 3rd, I think Linne sounds surprisingly better and it's innovative. Very great matches all around!

Only one minor quibble with any song today, and it's that... I dunno, reverb on percussion sounds very strange to me. But very cool! I dunno why D+B hits an urge whereas I dislike dubstep drops and wubs, but there you go.

Okay, two quibbles. I feel like I've heard Lin ne kro ne somewhere else but I cant for the life or me place it. I won't be sad if it wins, either, since both match 3 songs are wonderful.

Storm is cool but I think it gets worse when the electric guitar comes in. But Seashore is maybe my fav track in the whole of DKC, which is saying a lot!
Nocturne is interesting but maybe a bit too 'background music' for me. Weird because I usually go for that kind of stuff. Sogno is no BABA YETU by a long stretch but it has its moments.
Woods is pretty basic but I can imagine it growing on me with more listens. I don't care for the drop part in LIN NE but the rest is good, great hook.

Ahh it's LIN NE KRO NE time! LIN NE KRO NE is just the catchiest thing in the world and it has been in my head in some capacity ever since nominations. Great song, might even be underrating it in my rankings.

I also like both songs in the second match! I feel like both songs are situational and my opinions of them could fluctuate depending on the day (though they're always pretty far above average), and today was a Nocturne day.

Nocturne is such a unique song. Great day today.

Storm feels like the kinda BGM you'd hear on a mediocre rental game. Not bad, but missing something. Seashore War isn't quite as good as David Wise at his original DKC finest, but it still has some of that flavor.

Nocturne is fine until it has that stupid breakdown that ruins the song. Wouldn't take much to beat that, and Sogno's fairly nice.

Into the Woods is the first song this contest I completely forgot the second it was over. Lin Ne is quite nice. This might be the weakest day yet at the top...

The main synth in Storm of Fine Weather isn't a particularly pleasant one to listen to tbh. It's pretty loud and overbearing in the mix. The actual composition is ok I guess. I like the e-guitar solo in the middle. Overall, it's not a great example of good fusion, but it has some good elements.

Seashore War is awesome. It utilizes a pretty basic chord progression throughout, but the way the music evolves around it is quite impressive. Great atmosphere, good percussion, nice choice to put the main melody (which is a really good melody btw) as an acoustic guitar. Probably my favorite song from Tropical Freeze in general. Incredibly easy vote for this one.

Nocturne is definitely a trip. I definitely like this more than most DnB songs. The ambient effects in the background do a lot of work to create an ideal atmosphere for the sax. Pretty minimalistic melody, but still quite enjoyable. The chaos around the 6 minute mark is certainly something, though it's not bad. Solid song, though I think it is a bit long relative to what it does at 8 and a half minutes.

Sogno di Volare is a favorite of mine. Christopher Tin is a master orchestrator, and that's shown to its full effect here. Excellent string writing, fantastic brass to back it up, and the choir does a great job with the melody. Still unsure whether I like this or Baba Yetu more, but they're both fantastic songs. As solid as Nocturne is, it's hard to top Sogno.

Into the Woods! has such a great mix and instrumentation. The consistent switching between primary instruments throughout keeps me very interested in this one. The percussion is really well-done and I really like the mini piano glissando at 1:39. Great song.

Cool synths to start out in LIN NE KRO NE. Neat production, although I wish there were more of a melody here, and I'm not a huge fan of the whispered vocals either. Solid song, but not good enough to beat Into the Woods!

Pretty strong day today except for Storm.

Today is a "song I like vs a song I really like" day.

Storm is enjoyable, but lacks the cool complexity of Seashore.
Nocturne runs a little too long for my tastes, but still great. Sogno hits the spot perfectly.
Lin Ne Kro Ne's lyrics take some getting used to. Into the Woods by now is very familiar.

i understand if people dont like the border down/under defeat sound because yeah they all kinda sound samey (snow fox from border down is a favorite of mine ((https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JhDFhOhBPo)) also the entirety of Senko no Ronde)
Seashore War is fucking fantastic not much more to say, tropical freeze's soundtrack is so diverse in terms of where it goes and what it does

Nocturne is one of the craziest songs i've ever heard, i can still remember the first time i heard it in GiFTPiA while i was fishing, honestly just sat there listening to this on shitty crt speakers and being floored (the whole ost is very weird because they just paid a lot of local talent to do the soundtrack, a lot of it very good but this is a standout even for one of my favorite games of all time, fuck yeah DNB)

Dream of flight is also very solid but today is like, my hyperfixations against very solid vgm

into the woods feels like an autumn day, right before all the leaves fall off but at that exact moment when all the leaves show their most striking colors, good song

i think LIN NE KRO NE is very close to being something insane that i fucking love but it just doesn't hit that sweet spot, very sad because i like it a lot
