I'm in the market for a new keyboard. Looking at Cherry Red switches, wireless functionality and small form factor (without keypad). Not for serious gaming, but casuals gaming, may play FPS games like BioShock and Half-Life.

They are long discontinued and there's nothing else like them out there. I've gone through three now and am on my last one.

I find that bulbous appendage to be quite odd.

But looking at all the reviews a lot of people want this design to come back.

The one that came with the Acer prebuilt I got like 15 years ago. It's pretty generic and unremarkable, but it's doing the job.

I've got a Logitech G11. I don't know if they still make them. It's the cheaper version of the G15 which has an LCD display. Regular keys, not the clicky kind, but I've had it for over 10 years and it's still working perfectly. What I really love about it is the 18 macro keys along the side, and there are 3 memory banks for a total of 54 macros, and you can create separate profiles for each application or game so you can have virtually infinite macros.

It's great for certain games like clickers because you can set a key to toggle insanely rapid mouse clicks. Or any game where you need to use a series of commands, like Magicka. I have a button that lets me just hoover stuff in Skyrim or Fallout.

The keys are backlit, but not particularly well (or else the LEDs are fading after all these years).

Cheap ass Logitech K270.

an awful Logitech k120. Its one of the kind where if you hold two certain keys down it won't let you use other keys. Makes playing Binding of Isaac difficult

One of those $50 Logitech models you find in Walmart.

For practical reasons, I mostly just use the keyboard built into my laptop. And although I have other keyboards, I've never had a gaming keyboard -- just functional keyboards for normal work / recreation.

Right now, I'm usually sticking to a Logitech keyboard although the keys are a little too flat for my tastes. Mostly because I've been too lazy to figure out which other keyboards I have are still in working shape and too cheap to buy a new one.

I have a corsair strafe keyboard. It glows with a dark demonic shade of red, so you know it is made for true gamers , but ultimately I still suck at games, so it mostly makes me feel like an imposter.

A Dell KB522. Nothing special but it works well enough... I'd like to get something different though.

I also am old school IBM Model M as a backup. These things are pretty neat and are pretty sought after, but it's also a little too bulking for my desk. I'd also just prefer something a bit more modern as my daily driver.

Razer Blackwidow. It's definitely not what you're looking for; it's large, heavy and wired.

Yeah, I think I got it because it used to be one of the cheaper mechanical keyboards with Cherry Mx switches. It think I paid $60 for it back it the day. It it has the red switches in which are supposedly quiet, but I bang the keys home like a gorilla, so it is quite noisy like you attested to. It really does sound like whatever you are typing is serious business.

I've tried other keyboards but they've all broken in some way or another.

Also have a razor sitting around somewhere, but it's a beast and needs a desktop to sit on.

I miss the one I had as an operator, custom switches and cost more then most people make in a month; it was also a beast.

Logitech, it's a g915 lightspeed model.
