So why do schools around the US still not have metal detectors. I went to middle and high school in the hood and we had to go through them in 2000-2006. Way before the Virginia Tech shooting.

Because the bleeding hearts felt like metal detectors and high fences made schools feel more like prisons. So they nixed that shit.

No Congress is going to illegally break one of the amendments in the Bill of Rights, and no Congress will ever have enough majority to repeal them. Guns are here to stay. That does all of jack and shit to address the underlying problem or prevent future shootings. At best it's a vain hope that the officer will perform like Robocop during an active shooting. Chances are the resource officer will run like a coward and you'll be lucky if they do anything helpful in that situation.

As a Canadian gun owner, I can assure you, not having to deal with daily mass shootings is preferable to whatever Americans think the trade-off is.

Its really not hard to own a gun in Canada even I have a couple. Its so weird to take it across the border because the US side seems to be basically nice gun and coming back I need all my licenses

The United States government has abandoned all pretense of being able to address problems like this. Nobody expects anything to be done in response. At what point do we start questioning the legitimacy of such a regime?
