It has a lot of features and quality of life changes that makes competitive more accessible. Things like vitamins can fully EV train instead of just going to 100. Pokemon in the daycare can teach each other egg moves. You can give Pokemon mints to change their nature. The DLC added Hidden Ability capsules. Etc.
