It has to do with voice actors historically being paid poorly and he wants to change that.

If Disney doesn't think the cost of paying DiMaggio is worth it then they don't think the cost of new Futurama is worth it. Not really a complicated situation.

Seems like the rest of the cast is okay with him wanting more if their posts on Twitter is any indication. He's pretty much the "face" of the show.

It will be on Disney+ internationally. Actually it sucks over here since you need Disney+ and Hulu to access their whole library, when overseas you mostly just need Disney+.

This was my thought too. And different actors can and do demand different rates, it's honestly not all that relevant to him what the other people are getting paid if it's way below his rate. Their careers are not his career, and taking lowball offers can hurt you in the long run.

Theres more to Futurama than Benders voice. Ill miss him, but Im fine with a recasting.

I dont think it was a case of money but remember when Uncle Phil was replaced by someone else for Shredder. It wasn't the same. Give the man what he wants.

Because we saw his negotiation tactics come to light when Fox announced his departure over pay, to the point of discussing the replacement for Ned Flanders' voice, only for them to reach an agreement later on. News stories were saying that Azaria tends to be the holdout when it comes to contract negotiations.

Man, how desperate are they to bring Futuerama back yet again? The show has had 3 endings already are they really trying to make another Simpsons

He's being a dick about it. If he's getting the same as West and Segal he should trust their judgment and go with it.

TBH, both of them are much more accomplished than he is. West has done countless things, including Ren & Stimpy, Segal was on 2 of the biggest TV shows of all time (Married with Children, Sons of Anarchy). Meanwhile DiMaggio did like 1 guest episode character on a bunch of cartoons, but basically has never done anything else big.

DiMaggio also voiced Wakka iirc, he seems to be a bigger name in the voice acting world than his main costars, cant be too mad at someone trying to get the most for his labor, especially from a mega conglomerate like Disney

I probably won't watch it if benders different honestly

He voiced one of the main characters in Adventure Time, too.

Bender is the easiest voice to replace. Since he's a robot, they can explain that he got a new voice module. Hell, they could make the first episode all about him getting a replacement voice. Have him show up with a female Siri voice. Go through a bunch of voices that don't work. Settle on a voice that's going to be his new one.

I don't have any problem with the talent wanting to be paid. But when someone says, "I'm the star, I deserve more money than the rest," I find it a little hard to be on their side.

He's had universal support from the voice acting community as a result of this. People who would know the ins and outs of voice acting contracts and deals. This isn't some prima donna response from DiMaggio.

Hes arguably bigger than West and Sagal at this point.

Im not saying it HAS to be consistent, but it matters and if I like the actor I want it to stay the same. Random example but the wife in the mummy changing in the mummy 3 was a very noticeable difference that changed how I felt about the movie. And likewise, Robin Williams from Aladdin 1 to 2 changing to Dan castella (I think thats how you spell that) was a noticeable, and worse, change. And Dan is great. Hes done a million great things with his voice. But Robin made it his own.
