Getting into an argument with some people about this right now. Honestly can't believe what I am hearing some people are saying. Wanted to check PotD and see if I'm the one that's in the wrong or if these people are just nut jobs.

I would say the Wii has a "bigger" software library

this isn't a matter of generations.

I'm abstaining since I haven't played the ps4 or have enough awareness about its library.

At one point they might have been true, but digital distribution became a thing so 90% of everything tends to be shovelware now. That said, when comparing libraries, you're looking at the strength of the individual titles rather than looking at other shit. Because, in the grand scheme of things, only a portion of anything is noteworthy, and the bigger a library is, often the more good titles you'll see.

Most console libraries about 90% crap.

I hate motion controls, so my opinion is going to be biased at best.

I also lost interest in most of Nintendo's flagship franchises decades ago, so again...

Both are great, but I voted Wii. I totally understand people thinking PS4 is far supreme though.

That's never really been true. The Wii got a lot of *exclusive* shovelware because so many companies made cheap cash-ins on the gimmick potential, but the vast majority of games released are trash. This has been true pretty much forever.

Not a fair comparasion. Should be like the Ps2 and Wii, since the ps2 is also know for being a shovelware graveyard. Shouls like you just wanted to shit on the wii... for whatever reason.

I have no idea. Both of them really lack games that would interest me.

The reason I asked this is because I said the PS5 will end up with a better catalogue of games than the Wii U, people got mad at me and said I must also consider that you can play Wii games on the Wii U, I said "okay well you can also play PS4 games on the PS5 so that just makes it easier for the PS5 to beat the Wii U like....immediately?" then people got assblasted and claimed that I must ALSO consider that you can hack your Wii U to natively play GameCube games.

I own both however didn't enjoy the WII due to motion controls. This means I enjoyed buying PS4 games the most so I voted that.

I mean the WII U can play WII games naturally and yeah the PS5 can play PS4 games. This doesn't change the library of games native to that system though. It seems to me you're changing the goalpost here.

It depends on what your interests are. I greatly preferred the Wii to the PS4 (I have both). That said, the Wii wasn't a particularly great console either.

And the argument that you need to include backwards compatibility is insane. The Wii U was a bottom tier console and its sales numbers reflect that.

As far as I know you don't need to do that on the Switch version. I've not played it yet despite owning both the WII and Switch version.

Wasn't the Wii the successful one. I think before the Switch, they considered the Wii the successful one, while all the other consoles technically failed by their standards or something. That's what I remember hearing, at least... Which I thought was weird, but...
