You do realize there won't be a Jordan Love era, right?

yes I'm aware

by "Jordan Love era" I'm basically just referring to the rotating cast of mediocre QB's we have in store for us in post-Rodgers time, which I think is next season

can it be an era if it's one year and then everyone realizes 'whoops we made a huge mistake'

Everyone already realizes this which makes the idea even more insane. Like, I see an argument of building for the future if you can get great return for Rodgers in a trade, but otherwise, the Packers are totally screwed without him.

LOL I saw that but didn't post it after I messed up two weeks ago on seeing a Twitter pic of the defender count in the Chargers/Raiders.

Did they have someone waiting in/near the endzone to return a miss? That'd be the only explanation outside outright incompetence.

This is not Rodgers' fault in the slightest. He actually played a decent game. So did Aaron Jones.

The special teams were a fucking trainwreck and the pass defense never managed to protect up the middle. Packers need to clean house with special teams coaches after that. Like... even I could do better than this shitshow.

It's easy to blame the special teams, but the opposing team only scored 13 points.

And the offense only scored 10 points on 10 drives.

Special teams were far from their only problem.

Rodgers had a 69% completion percentage, but was also sacked 5 times and had a run game that only averaged 3.4 a rush.

Like, Rodgers was the only one out there really doing anything on offense most of the time.

The Packers as an offense had two good drives and then spent most of the rest of the game sleepwalking.

Yeah, there were only 4 teams in the playoffs this year that haven't won a Super Bowl, and 3 of them made it to this week. And then two of them had to play each other today, so we aren't actually doing that bad compared to how we started.

As a Packer fan, it's hard reflecting on the last 30 years. Back to back hall of fame quarterbacks basically all my life. Don't get me wrong, it's been fun rooting for a winning team all my life that makes the playoffs basically every year without fail. But only 2 superbowls wins out of it is the big letdown of it all.

Packers have made 9 NFC championship games in the last 30 years. That's actually not bad at all. Something you'd maybe expect from a Favre-Rodgers combo. They've only won 3 of those games though, and then went 2-1 in the superbowls. And it's been a decade+ since the last super bowl appearance. The last decade of continuous postseason heartbreak has sucked mightily to say the least. Rodgers had a golden opportunity to lead a dynasty, but it never materialized.

Now my concern is for the first time, our bountiful Hall of Fame QB tradition may be coming to an end. If Rodgers and Adams leave, our passing offense will be nothing. Granted, the NFC North is in a bad place overall right now. The 3 other teams all have their own issues. But it's definitely sobering knowing that this could be the end of a legacy of riches for the Packers, that did everything except win championships.

"Might" how? You used the wrong modal verb. Should be "WILL."

We shall see what he does. I hope there's a swift end to the story, regardless of what it is, so the media doesn't spend the entire summer spreading lies for ratings while Rodgers acts like the universe revolves around him again.

As a Packers fan myself, I too have only known Favre and Rodgers... and the consistent postseason heartbreak, especially against the 49ers. One could say I've been spoiled, but I'm not sure if I have. It gets aggravating to have "THE CAKE IS A LIE" pulled on me almost every dang season. All this talk about a championship and then we fall short of a Super Bowl. It's the same old song and dance.

I fear that the next decade or two will be what the 70s and 80s were like for the Pack: Many coaching changes and few playoff berths. And it's likely that people won't care anymore, because unlike back then, we have an Internet that helps us do many things that weren't available back then. Myself included. I was already getting to that point and Rodgers being a diva certainly didn't help. The narcissism makes me think that the reason we haven't been able to finish is that though his skills are ridiculous, his leadership is lacking. A sobering thought indeed.

Also, a lot of you are forgetting just how cold the weather was last night. That had a huge effect on how many points could be scored. It was the special teams that cost us 13 points. The 49ers offense wasn't getting anywhere, either.

A reminder that Eli Manning has won more championships than Rodgers.

With that said, God knows when the Giants will be good again. Hell, at this point I'd take respectable. Your team may lose in the playoffs but at least they got there in the first place on a fairly consistent basis.

Yeah without Rogers this division is a clown show. Packers D was awesome this year though but their salary cap issues are nuts so who knows. Something like 9-8 could win the division next year so I dont see why it couldnt be the Lions.

Bears are losing most of their best players and will be in the first year of a new head coach, Packers are probably losing Rogers so he can join the Alex Jones network as the sports correspondent, and the Vikings seem to constantly underachieve. Lions have a legit shot finally.

Which is why I understand that some people consider Packers fans "spoiled." But at the same time, we can't capitalize on it. I'd even take a Super Bowl loss at this point. We just keep showing that we're overhyped and that our record means nothing.

Rodgers is 75% of the "nuts" salary cap so if he A) retires to host a game show or sports broadcast, B) demands to be traded to whatever team he chooses, or C) restructures his contract into a one-year, "win or bust" sort of deal where he takes a huge pay cut since him and Shailene are rolling in the dough already, we've got a LOT of room to potentially re-sign everybody we need for one final push. That said we kinda need the demigod QB for that since Loverboy has shown that he can't play even a full half to save his life, and that trading up for him is the worst thing the Packers have done in the first round since passing on Barry Sanders for a bust of an O-lineman whose name I've forgotten. Sure, the Pack have made some first-round gaffes, but trading up for one takes the cake.

This next draft doesn't have much in the way of QB options, so if Rodgers doesn't restructure his deal for one last push, I'm expecting a 5-12 season that's going to be very hard to watch or care about, so I will probably find other things to do.
