Knights of the Old Republic

I've played the first 30 minutes or so of the PC version maybe a decade ago and that was it

Absolutely, it's an all-time classic. It's been a while since I've done a playthrough, but between 2004-10, I probably beat it once a year. There are aspects of the combat which will seem very janky compared to today's RPGs, but I find the D&D inspired gameplay to be quite fun.

Also, keep in mind that George Lucas was butchering his franchise with the prequels when KotOR was released, and thus fans embraced it with an even more endearing fondness, since it was seen as "more true to Star Wars than the new movies."

up to you! i loved the game

every time i attempt to replay it i never get very far. the controls (especially camera controls) and UI feel super dated

if you think you can deal with that, i say go for it. otherwise, it might be interesting to experience the remake completely fresh

You did indeed stab me in the back. However, you are only level one, whilst I am level 50. That means I should remain uninjured.

The game is really dated. Just wait for the remake.

The gameplay is very dated, but it's still a fun time. The remake could be years away and it'll likely be an entirely different game, so I say go for it if you can handle the dice-rolling style of combat!

Also, I make my recommendation partly because I feel you're not someone who will be immediately deterred by a dated game. The story, music, voice acting, and Star Wars atmosphere of KotOR are still top notch.

KotOR is an all-time classic for sure. Gameplay is indeed a smidge dated but everything else is still some of the best Star Wars has ever had in gaming.

Yes, I first played it in 2017 and it holds up pretty well.

Plus, I've got a bad feeling about the remake.
