So I'm a crazy person, and something I've started doing the past couple years is keeping track of every feature length movie that I watch for the first time throughout the year, regardless of when they were released, their genre, etc. Then at the end of the year, I rank them all arbitrarily based solely on my personal preference/enjoyment. Doesn't matter if a film may be better on a technical level or not: I rank solely based on how much it impacted me, and how much I enjoyed/appreciated it.

Besides some movies around 100 deserving to be higher imo, not a bad ranking.

woah my brother does this too. He keeps a spreadsheet and rates them, apparently he watched 187 this year.

I recognize more of the ones on your list than his. I still have yet to see end of eva, definitely looking forward to that

Yeah, there's definitely some classics I still really need to catch up on. Tried to at least put a bit of a dent in some of them this past year tho.

End of Eva was wild, completely caught me off guard. Highly recommend it.

187 is pretty damn impressive. I'm gonna try to see if I can crack 200 in 2022, if time allows it.

I actually didn't even hate Paul Blart. But I know it's reputation. Which makes that more funny. I thought Mall Cop was just an average kids movie and not especially bad. Id rather watch it than a lot of other kids movies.

OG Godzilla was fantastic: watching Godzilla vs Kong shortly after that just really left a sour taste in my mouth tbh. Didn't have the same weight to its message that the OG did.

I didn't find Vacation funny. Like, literally at all. John Candy was the funniest part of the movie to me and he's in like, 5 minutes of it at the very end.

It makes sense as I can tell from your list. You can see you're not really the type to purposely watch bad movies on the regular. So, it definitely shouldn't be way up the list for being average.

I wanted to do this with all the horror movies I watched for the first time during the pandemic but...it's gone on so long and I never bothered ranking all the ones I watched 2 years ago

That was honestly one of the hardest parts of ranking all these: Only a very small portion of these are movies I just full on hated. There's plenty of fine and watchable films that end up pretty low because I just simply watched other things that I enjoyed more.

If you still have them listed/recorded somewhere, you should do it tbh. That sounds like a fun project.

Surprised to see EoE at the top, loved it but would put probably 5 others on the list above it and I've seen less than half of these. I'm guessing you've seen Evil Dead 2? Curious where it would be in relation to 1 and 3 on your list.

You might have seen Army of the Dead on the list. Which I did watch this past year, and is on there.

Honestly separating from "good and bad" is difficult, since there's movies that I know are shot well, and are good on a technical level, but just didn't click with me, and several movies the other direction as well.

I'd say everything from 140 and before I got little to no enjoyment from. And then around 100 os where I started to really enjoy the movies in question, with it only getting better the higher you go.

I appreciated it for what it was, but I felt it was weaker then Amadeus, Milos' other big film. Which is an all time favorite of mine. So I may have unfairly compared it to that if I'm being honest.

Halloween 4 is pretty unfairly low. Really solid sequel with a fantastic child actress that sells it.

Yep; I've been trying to do this annually. Did it last year, and the year before I did just the movies I watched in theaters.

I watched 165 movies last year, way down from my record of 607 the previous year.

I have no interest in ranking them.
I will rank all the 2021 released movies soon though.

I always aim for as many as possible, but this year I worked more and started gaming again, so my number really dropped. I plan to at least hit 300 this year though.

Dunno if you already use one, but I find that using a website to keep track of what I've already watched comes in really handy. Useful to have a filterable and sortable list of what you've already seen if you plan to keep watching more and more movies.
