Hmm so the bosses told the employees if they left before the tornado, they would in all likelihood be fired. And people wonder why hourly paid employees need unions.

Why would any employer risk the safety and lives of employees just to make an extra buck or two but that greed is now gripping the country and the employers now wield total control because a certain B movie actor who became president kept telling people unions were bad even though he himself belonged to the actors union so for him it was good but everybody else it was bad.

Unions good or bad are needed more now than ever because the upper echelon only care about stuffing their pockets and doing it their way even if it means putting people's safety at risk because none of those bosses at that factory were present when that tornado hit.

I was working security at a site and caught a funnel cloud on the cameras, it didn't touch down but it prompted me to ask what our tornado plans were; it came down from on high that there were none, and none were needed as "we don't get tornadoes here" despite the video to the contrary.

I did not stay with them much longer after that.

I'm not a fan of unions at all, they pretty much just force employees to pay union dues so that lazy fuck everyone wishes would get fired never does.

That being said, I hope all amazon employees quit and they go out of business, I already refuse to use them unless absolutely necessary (which hasn't happened in years and years)

Unions are like flight attendants: If everything goes properly, they're mostly just kind of annoying. Just pray that you never find yourself in a situation where they need to do their real job.

That's not really practical. Building tornado shelter areas in warehouses in tornado-prone areas and instructing workers to seek shelter when a tornado warning is in effect, however, very much is.

If the whole warehouse is underground then they can keep working during the tornado. That seems very practical to me.

Nah. They're just greedy when they have other ways of making money instead.

It's not surprising at all. Warehouses are really demanding during holiday season. Lots of overtime. And it's worse now with a shortage of workers

It's really not. Unions aren't perfect, they were needed and we clearly need some form of employee representation for stuff like this. I've only worked one place with mandatory unions and all they did was pit different groups of employees against each other to make it seem like they were doing something to justify getting paid.
