a place a ten-minute walk away from your current location. Would you get mad if the bloke walked over and delivered your food instead of bringing it to you in his car?

Suppose that the walk takes more or less the same amount of time as the drive. What say you?

I must have these answers.

That shouldn't be possible, and if it was an easy walk I'd walk for it myself. Granted, I also just drive for things myself.

that last one

I have a tendency to do self-destructive things such as figuratively egging message board users to affirm my negative self-talk. I often vote for it myself just to have a hollow laugh about my perceptions of myself.

Well, it just seemed like it would have taken longer. I would have had to return to the parking garage, exit aforementioned garage, wait for the traffic signals to permit me to proceed, head to a cul-de-sac to U-turn in, and drive to the client's location. I don't deny that this might have been laziness on my part.

As long as the food arrives warm, I don't really care.

Just as long as you aren't charging the full delivery cost for it. I had a pizza place within walking distance of my apartment once, and they had the common decency to only charge me a dollar for delivery instead of the usual $3 any time I was too lazy to walk the 10 minutes over to pick up my food.

So long as the food isn't getting cold and it arrives in a timely fashion, I don't see that it's a problem. People might get uppity because they think of the delivery fee as paying for the driver's gas/car upkeep, but the driver still needs to be paid for their time (which is going to be worth quite a bit more than 10 minutes' worth of gas), and the time investment is going to be the same either way. If they're bothered by paying a delivery fee when they could just have walked to get the food, then they should have walked to get the food instead of ordering delivery.

Zeus posted...
That shouldn't be possible,

It's not that inconceivable. Depending on how far away the driver has to park from the restaurant, that may already be 3-5 minutes of walking before they can even get into the car. Similarly, on the other end, they may have to park a few minutes away from the destination. And then there's the question of one-way streets (or, if not formal one-way streets, streets where turning around is so difficult that you're better off going around the block), how heavy traffic is, how many traffic lights are on the route... It becomes significantly less likely the longer the trip is, and I'd call 10-15 minutes of walking the upper end of what's plausible in all but the worst-designed areas, but walking can definitely be faster than driving on shorter trips in an urban setting.

Alternatively, if you suck enough, playing against yourself is great because it's an easy win.

If it doesnt cause them to be later than expected nor does it affect the food i cant see a reason to possibly be bothered by it.

You'd probably have problems other than heat with a horse, such as things being jostled. A horse is faster than walking, though, since even a trot is faster than most people can run, and a cantor afaik is a lot faster than people can run.

Provided you have a sufficiently clear path. If you have to take a longer route and/or one with more stops because of the larger footprint, you can't really take advantage of the higher speed.
