Is Kelly Hot?

24 y/o Kelly Watson from Houston, Texas claims on Tiktok that she has applied part time to TIFFANY & CO and APPLE due to rising costs of living in the US despite working at NASA!!

The engineer, who goes by the name "sexybabypartygirl" filmed her interview experience with Tiffany and showed her outfit she was wearing for it with a black dress and heels which she hoped was "on brand"

She said she GOT the job at the store despite being embarrassed about also mentioning working at NASA and why she wanted this job but Tiffany was paying $20 an hour.

Then she said she had another interview with Apple and did that interview as well

More than 3 million people viewed her video wondering why she needs another job and said "So even NASA doesn't pay that well? and another said if someone who works at NASA needs a 2nd job, i have no hope for my future"

Another chimed in "A NASA engineer needs a part time job yet people ar still not talking the wage crisis seriously?"

Kelly says she took another job so she can pay to see her family back in Wisconsin more often

She says she enjoys her job at NASA and it does pay well but wanted to make more money because her rent is high and has student loans, car loans and thrifts a lot for her things

Kelly says she got a chemical engineering degree but would NOT recommend it as commentators says capitalism has failed when a nasa engineer needs a second job.

According to ziprecruiter, a nasa engineer earns on average 87,800 in Houston but nationally it is 95,114

Someone asked what the qualifications to work at NASA were and she said they were looking for smart, well rounded and decent people with good social skills

In the end, Kelly took the job with APPLE despite a technical specialist only earning 16-19 an hour but says she's looking forward to using the apple discount

I don't fucking believe her. At all.
Either she's lying about how much NASA was paying her, lying about being a chemical engineer there vs. like... a receptionist, or is a big spender that doesn't know how to live within her means (or expects to be able to fully pay off her student loans in a year or something ridiculous like that)

$87,800 is very good money almost anywhere, and while Houston isn't cheap, it's nowhere near as expensive as many other cities.

Just glass door it on average they pay their chemical engineers 70,000 a year. So her making 90,000 a year is on high end of Nasa pay for her job.

Also Houston is outrageously expensive unless you got grandfathered into a home your family owned. Her bringing home a extra 30,000 a year with a part time $20 a hour job sounds realistic.

As I'd argue to live comfortably in Houston you need a min 120,000 a year.

1) NASA isn't private sector, so "capitalism" doesn't apply.

2) Student debt is a thing, and people at the beginning of their career tend to earn less than later on in their career.

3) Some people can make insane salaries yet still live above their means, which is probably the case here.

As someone who actually currently lives in Houston you're full of complete shit. I lived in a nice 1 bed 1 bath apartment (860 sq ft close to the med center) for $1500 a month and still had plenty of money to enjoy my life and invest/save when I made 60k by myself. With my significant other we make a combined $130k and are doing what we want without worrying about money much.

I don't know if this lady has significant debt or loans or what her lifestyle is like, but 80k+ is certainly enough to live in a nice place in a safe area of Houston.

LMAO she lost her job at NASA? Just goes to show that some people just can't make it due to biological differences (if you know what I mean). I could do her NASA job twice as efficiently and with a lot better of a grasp on the concepts than her, and I only have two years of experience at COMMUNITY college and only took one astrology class.

It's information like this that reminds me why I love not living in a city. Instead I've got a $2,200 mortgage for a house with 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and an acre of land.

Now that I'm done bragging, I will say that even with rent at $1,500 and having money left to invest, that could easily be eaten into depending on what your student loan situation looks like and maybe the car payment is modest and not above your means. It could feel like you'd want a second job if you're hoping to visit your hometown back in Wisconsin more often like she said. Plane tickets aren't cheap and that'd be a hell of a drive to make on a regular basis.

Doesn't seem that outlandish to me to think about a second job in that situation.

Idk. If you are single with no kids and can't make an 80k salary work in Houston part of me thinks you are trying to live above your means. Again I don't know what her financial situation is like but assuming she isn't in crazy debt or struggling with loans an 80k salary is more than liveable.

And yeah rent is wild. I hate paying it but it's the most convenient and I am only here for the short term so wouldn't be smart buying right now, especially since the housing market looks like shit in most parts of Texas.

Dude, I live in north Texas. There is no fucking way I can live comfortably on 35K/year and then need an extra 85K/year extra just 6 hours south. She's bullshitting because I do live comfortably on my 35K/year.
