I mean game still looks great just like secret of mana (no idea why the remade secret of mana). There also isn't much incentive for them to do it at the moment. Square Enix seems to only re-release or remake games after making a huge point about how tenuous their situation is. If Final Fantasy VII was a last resort option, Chrono Trigger is probably the same. They also probably know that no matter what they do they're not going to make people happy. If they go too big it'll come off like Final Fantasy VII Remake, if they don't do enough it'll be like Secret of Mana. Where is the middle ground? What do fans want? My guess is no one is asking for this per se so much as they want accessibility, and you already have that in the form of the DS and Steam ports. Any remake they could do would serve more to water the game down more likely than not, or change it in a way that alienates the fandom.
