So when you order food from a delivery service (Grubhub, DoorDash, Ubereats) what is your expectations?

For me considering the fact that it comes out to like at least double the cost (if not triple in some cases) I do expect the driver to pick up the food and make their best attempt to deliver it as quickly as they can (at least making an effort to do so) if there is another order that is along the way I do not have much issue with them dropping it as long as the delay isn't but a couple minutes to do so. I do expect the food to arrive in a condition like it would be if I were to pick it up and drive home with it. I also always do the max % that it gives you the choice of for tip btw.

I just ordered from Five Guys Burger Fries and Shake. The driver picks up my order and proceeds to drive around with it for 45 minutes making other pickups and drops back and forth before dropping my food off. My shake completely melted , my fries dead cold and he tries to play it off that it was the restaurants fault which was a complete lie cause I watch the map for my orders I saw him pick it up(saw him at the location) and then I saw him tour the city with my food. Door Dash's automated site tried to give me back like 3 bucks of my order.. I called into DD directly and went into a polite Karen mode. Got them to refund me back about 75% of the order total. I definitely hope that part of that was refunded was the dudes tip. He does not deserve it.

Don't pick up the food until your ready to deliver it... we aren't paying 2-3 times the cost for you to take a tour with our food around the city.

I expect my food. I usually tip $3-5 depending on the distance I am from the restaurant.

I expect it to arrive within 5-10 minutes of the estimated arrival time.

I've noticed on DoorDash that 'estimated arrival' will often change in real time. It seems (not for sure) as if the driver has the ability to add time to that arrival time. So are you talking about the initial arrival time given or whatever it on the fly changes to over time?

Generally the initial one. Granted, I don't order delivery very often (I rarely eat out, and when I do, it's generally from a place that's close enough that it's faster to do pickup), so I'm not basing that on much.

only food I have ever ordered delivered has been pizza. I expect it to arrive within 30 minutes, and be hot.

forgiveness is divine, but never pay full price for late pizza.

I think the only time I get delivery is from places that deliver So, I havent used those other delivery apps. From what I hear, they seem to be very expensive, even for delivery, which is already expensive And I heard they arent even that good most of the time And theres apparently so weird secret of Grubhub (but I havent seen the videos yet)

But I think I heard of a bunch of bad experiences. From here, and is real life. I think Mead mentioned something once. That said, people usually mention the bad stuff, and may not ever mention the good things. Either way, with the price and the horror stories I hear, not sure if Im willing to try it

But, if I did order from there, Id probably expect the same thing as if I either picked it up myself, or if I had it delivered. So:

- Id expect it to be the right order. So the right food and anything that came with it like sauce or whatever

- Id expect it to not be cold. Hot would be best, but at the very least, warm. I dont want to pay an exorbitant for cold food

- Id expect it in a timely matter. I dont want a driver that has to go to like 20 different places, so that it takes forever to get mine. If they pick up a couple orders for the same place or on the way, then that should be fine as long as they dont take forever. But I cant have them stopping at like 20 places before my food, or between picking up my food and giving it to me That seems like it would be shitty

- And Id expect to actually get it. Like I dont want to just not receive my food, or for something to happen or whatever. Like Idk what could happen. But I dont want to not receive my food for whatever reason

I guess thats what I would expect

None of these services deliver in our area. Then again, neither does the post office. We have to drive 5 or so to town to pick up our packages every time.

This, even then I don't expect to get all of it between the stores fucking up orders and drivers stealing stuff. Definitely no expectations on how quickly it's delivered. If I wanted it fast I'd get it myself.

I don't use food delivery services because they're a joke. I'm not paying double to get cold food. I'll get off my ass and pick it up in half the time.

I don't really think about it. I order delivery only a handful of times a year when I'm extremely worn out, don't want to go anywhere and don't have anything on hand to make. Maybe 3 times a year. At that point my expectations are obviously already low.

Yeah it can be pretty bad. Both from the service and from the place you are ordering. Some aren't so bad. Like Burger King/McDonalds fairly fair with pricing.

But Wendys... oh Wendys charges way more for their food on the app. Something thats 2 bucks in person is like 3-4 bucks on Doordash. Which I don't understand, for the restaurant it doesn't cost them anything more to make something vs me there in person.

But then you have the services fees and taxes and they never make sense.. why is my 12 dollar order have 5 bucks in taxes? But for me I order enough I sign up for their pass so most of that is waived off. (fees and some taxes)

But then of course you have the driver tip. Which is based off sum of the order and distance to deliver. Expect on average 4-7 bucks tip they want you to add.

So with Wendys if your food was going to be like 12-13 bucks in person. It will be closer to 30 bucks on Doordash and thats with the pass. But burger king which keeps their food items more accurately priced with the pass its comes to like 17-18 bucks or so.

Panda Express.. ouch you are looking at near triple the cost. I don't order from them because of it.
