I enjoy them for about 10 minutes but I really appreciate their attention to detail.

I played MFS last night and flew over my house. That was neat. I'll probably never play it again.

You can see all kinds of computerized landmarks. The sightseeing mode with the Pyramids in Giza was a real eye-opener.

Never played any of them.

Sounds like something I would like to try for the novelty of it but not actually buy it myself.

Yes! I loved playing F-19 Stealth Fighter on my 386 IBM computer in 1990.

I really enjoy the concept, but have never really enjoyed playing them enough to buy them.

Same. They're good to tool around with, but I've never been enthralled enough by one to see fit to buy one. Then again, the last one I played was decades ago.

This was the only "game" my dad would ever play. Not avidly, mind you, because he was so absurdly practical about everything and video games were an abject waste of time to him, but the idea of seeing places from above fascinated him, so he would buy the new edition each time and then not get his money worth...or pretty much ever successfully land.

I never understood the point. I was a kid and all I saw was a bunch of instruments that meant nothing to me and some blocky scenery that was supposed to resemble real places I'd never been to. Slightly curious how I would react now, but not enough to actually try it. What I miss, TBH, was space dogfighting games like X-Wing.

Yeah, space dogfighting is very good. Freelancer (2003) held my interest for a very long time.

To this day, I keep looking for a proper successor. A good handful of games have tried, some directly citing influence, but there always seems to be some fatal flaw...be it the combat, economy, mission variety, controls, etc...something is always out of whack.

If you find one, let me know.

Star Wars Squadrons scratches the itch pretty well from strictly the combat perspective and it's quite an experience in VR, but sometimes I just want to earn credits moving cargo from one sector to the next, y'know?

Its no Freelancer, but if you want arcade-y dogfighting then you can do worse than Rebel Galaxy Outlaw.

Depends, things like Microsoft Flight Sim are boring as fuck, while games with added depth like Elite Dangerous are hella fun and the reason I bought a hotas
