I helped lead a late D1 swap from Scum A onto Scum B

Then night 2 I shot Scum C

Then we fooled around for a few days and lynched Scum A the day before MyLo

I had a bullet in my pocket so...I was kinda...forceful.

a vanilla town hard-claimed PR to start day 1 (...again)

they didn't claim which PR though

the idea is what they call the bucket strategy

concept: all three town PRs claim they are PR day 1 but don't say which. any scum who tries to claim PR will be outed eventually more likely than not, so it effectively gives you 3 confirmed town immediately and scum have a hard time even killing them because they have a 1/3 chance to block the doctor and if they don't block the doctor, a 50/50 of not shooting who the doctor saves. so either roll the dice on that or shoot outside the confirmed town.

being vig I was not in support of claiming PR day 1, for selfish reasons

the other two real PRs openly claimed in reaction to the VT faking, then the VT rescinded

I refused to ever come forward for day 1 but was extremely vocal about the strategy being dumb despite it being "optimal" because it's just...ya know, lame

claimed PR died N1

D2 I openly claimed vig and said I'm locked into shooting the VT who claimed and rescinded to start the game. This player was Ephemera - one of the two scum I pegged in my qualifier. so it was simple for me to fake tilting on them as a reaction test. 12-18 or so hours after I said I was locked into my shot I came back and said the whole thing was an act and that I wasn't vig at all. but of course nobody else was claiming PR so scum pretty much figured it was me (not that I could know for sure at the time whether they were buying me)

I ended day with my vote on someone else other than Ephemera

so they were banking on me shooting either ephemera or the player I was voting or the counterwagon to the VT who got mislynched day 2

but I shot the RB instead, someone I'd never openly suspected except having them in a POE of like 5 people at one point

That's what turns me off from open setups. Like you said it is an optimal play but it's boring and makes being scum less fun. Glad you made it more exciting.

ironically the reason behind Ephemera strongarming the bucket strategy was to "prevent day 1 discussion from being consumed by whether or not to employ the bucket strategy"

of course me being a PR and stubborn just led to it being discussed for a lot of the day anyway

in postgame chat I was like "so anyway, pretty sure that the amount of discussion surrounding bucket strategy would not have been greater had ephemera not forced it"

this triggered like 10 people to reply to me insisting I don't understand that the bucket strategy is optimal

they do have a hive mind going that's for sure

(not that we never did, just saying)

I was like, people, I'm not talking about whether it was optimal. I'm just saying Ephemera's stated reason for doing it proved to be a bad one

I get that feeling now, without needing to play the final in a month, and simultaneously "know" I played well enough to rightfully qualify if everyone was being honest

And I only say that because the point difference between 6th and 5th was so small

Anyway that was a fun time

The first thing I said to silver in spec chat after I died he was immediately like "I'm not going to interact with you about this" and was in complete and utter denial that I had anything on him

This is hugely false. That was true for like a 6 hour period of time then I literally did more pushing than anyone else in the game for the remainder of it

Let me rephrase this

Everyone who followed the game and spec chat closely (especially including post-advancement reveal) would reasonably agree wolves thought less of my play than town did on average

There's beyond sufficient evidence to suggest that

Then, separately, in comparison with the vote totals, it is not a leap to say that if wolves on average weren't biased against me I very likely would have advanced

I understand addition enough to recognize not everyone in town put me at the top

This does not escape me, and I'm saying nothing to suggest wolf salt is the only reason I didn't advance
