This isn't necessarily about tinnitus, or maybe it is. But when you are in a totally quiet environment--no electronics that are humming, no air units that are blowing, no nature sounds, no city noises, etc--does the absolute silence have a sound to you? Or perhaps does your mind play a trick on itself where it imagines something to fill the void even if it's not an actual condition?

Does an almost deafening sound fill in the total silence, something that almost sounds overwhelmingly loud, and yet if you barely tap a table, the new noise sounds clear as day and completely removes the loud sound of "silence"?

I guess just asking if you actually hear nothing at all, or if any kind of noise fills in your perception.

Same. I have one that somehow doesn't affect my actual hearing since my test came back perfect but I have a definite high pitched ringing that is more prominent in silence or if I try focus on it. I think I have an acoustic neuroma but just haven't got the MRI to confirm

My body reflexively produces prodigious amounts of gas in a silent environment.

The (not so) peaceful ringing of tinnitus.

I blame front row concerts, headphones always being too loud, and years of powertools without ear protection. :[

Question for all the tinnitus people here:

My ears have been ringing 24/7 for about a week now and I fear the worst, but the actual ringing isn't really affecting me all that much, instead its the constant lightheadness and dizzy feeling also near 24/7 that's really killing me. Is that a normal side effect? Does it go away? Am I dying?

Saw her yesterday, but it's been a week total since it started. Gotta wait another week now.

This is incredibly anecdotal, but it suddenly started two days after getting my second vaccine and I know two other people (including my mom) who weeks later are still feeling dizzy after their second dose.

Online searching doesn't have this as a side effect and my doctor also refuted it and I'm inclined to believe that. Oddly enough sudden tinnitus and vertigo is a rare side effect people have gotten after getting covid itself.
