Looks expensive though.
Might be time for an upgrade for me anyway.

So the same specs, just the screen and speakers are slightly better and a wired lan port on the dock?

Nice, but not a necessity for me. Especially as I most play docked and I have used my lan to usb cable on it before.

Looks neat, but no important spec improvements makes it a no-buy for me, at least at the moment.

i dont even know what a wired lan port is or means.

i was hoping the switch pro would have Bluetooth so I could listen to the games on my headphones but alas

the switch already has bluetooth

it's just only used for the controllers.

Enough to be a gamer active on a border-line obsolete gaming message board.

Knowing about internet cables is basic knowledge over a certain age (I would hope).

I thought they'd increase the battery life. Not that I really bring my Switch anywhere but (even very slightly) upgraded battery life is usually the thing they use to sell these upgrades.

Glad I didn't wait for this. I just got a new Switch four months ago and I only play it docked so this new version is of no concern to me.

I play docked 99.9% of the time anyway. really only played handheld when I had to charge controllers and wasn't at a stopping point, and when I took a trip.

even if I used the online (not worth it for me) I wouldn't need a lan. wireless is just fine.

this is only an actual upgrade if you only have the liteswitch

No 4K output? Weird...

There's not a lot of benefit to this half-generation idea some platform makers have been trying out. Releasing a more powerful system sounds like a neat idea at first glance, but actually taking advantage of that power means either developing a lesser version of a given game that will play on the old version (or, more likely, developing the game for the weaker version and adding some enhancements for the new one, either of which is a substantial amount of extra work), or making the game not function on the old one (reducing the portion of the install base you can access). We've seen this with the New 3DS (it had one exclusive game and a small handful that had extra features, but there was virtually no reason to develop with it in mind), the Xbone/PS4 remodels (Cyberpunk being one of the highest-profile failures of the model), and probably others I can't recall.

Smaller upgrades sound tempting, but without developers supporting them (which takes additional resources on their parts, for little gain), they're rarely all that beneficial, and ultimately just discourage people from being early adopters. Improvements to things like form factor and battery life already discourage early adoption, but when it becomes a matter of "you can't play this game without upgrading," that just breeds a whole lot of ill will.

Why would you even need this? Internet works fine without it.

Depends on your wireless router. Wired is always going to be faster and more reliable than wireless, so if wireless is proving troublesome, wired is your best bet.

Of course, you can buy USB ethernet adapters for it that render that particular feature unnecessary, but it's still handy to have it built-in.

I'm so glad there's no upgraded hardware. Ethernet port would be nice to have though, but since I refuse to pay for console online bs, it'd only be slightly useful. Don't really care about the nicer screen. Glad I don't feel like I need to upgrade to this. A nice model for new buyers though.
