This has been a thing for a year or two now, I really don't like it honestly. Obviously Black People have similar problems facing discrimination as us but ultimately they (as a whole)aren't LGBT, this is the same thing as "allies" claiming to be part of LGBT.

They don't give a flying fuck about LGBTQIAP+ or black people. All they care about is money. And if they think they'll get more money by doing pandering shit like this, they're gonna do it.

Pretty much. Yeah, it's just marketing and being cynical about that isn't unreasonable, but at the end of the day, it's all something that will contribute to making culture better. Be cynical enough to not let it sway your buying practices or stop holding companies accountable for more directly hurting the populations they claim to be supporting, but don't criticize the message of inclusivity itself.

Also this. POC were disproportionately represented in Stonewall and other early steps toward LGBTQ rights, yet Pride has become quite overwhelmingly white in recent years. Making efforts to recognize that history and include non-white folks in it is quite warranted.

It's only ever pandering when it caters to certain people though right. All advertising is pandering but it's only called out like a problem if its blacks or gays etc.

In my opinion, continuously adding more groups really dilutes the point of the "community".

Gay problems aren't the same as black problems. Black problems aren't the same as trans problems. Trans problems aren't the same as gay problems. These things are not related, nor are they even inclusive of each other... I mean, black people can oppress gay people. Black people can oppress trans people. Gay people can oppress trans people. Trans people can oppress gay people.

These are not shared attributes. They are not shared problems, they do no have shared solutions. The LGBTQ "community" is really just becoming a group that has incorporated literally anyone that has ever faced oppression, in complete disregard for whether or not the oppressed have any business being grouped together.

The LGBTQ "community" is really just becoming a group that has incorporated literally anyone that has ever faced oppression, in complete disregard for whether or not the oppressed have any business being grouped together.

There's quite a bit more overlap than you think, and much of the discrimination manifests in exactly the same way and can be solved in exactly the same way (by collectively saying that it's not okay and shutting down people who dissent from that). As a community, gay and trans people have historically been lumped together not by the LGBT label, but by the rest of society that saw them as similar "problems" (mostly, they both deviate from how the dating experience is "supposed to go"). Forcing them together into a community like that resulted in them being allies in fighting for rights (which makes it particularly egregious that many gay people are throwing trans people under the bus now that gay rights have been mostly secured and it's trans rights that are being debated), which has persisted into the modern LGBTQ movement.

Are they unrelated? Depends how you look at it. At a fundamental level, the problem is people discriminating against people that are different. That's true whether it's homophobia, transphobia, or racism. Each community faces their own intrinsic challenges, and there are varying nuances involved in figuring out exactly how best to increase their acceptance in society, but the core issue remains the same across all of them, so attacking the core issue together is perfectly reasonable.

Right, but someone that has been oppressed for being gay isn't necessarily going to be above racism or transphobia. Someone that has been oppressed for being black isn't necessarily going to be about homophobia or transphobia.

"These people have been oppressed" is a very tenuous foundation on which to suppose they are a functional community, because being oppressed does not make one above other forms of oppression. I think this has been especially demonstrated by common black attitudes against homosexuality.
