People are blaiming the pandemic, working conditions and pay but it's really just laziness.

It's not a coincidence people stopped working when the goverment started throwing shit tons of money at them. This isnt even taking into account our base benefits.

Should someone who had a good job previously, is college educated and skilled really be expected to work a shit minimum wage job because our government fucked up the handling of the pandemic?

People have been saying that shit for decades now. Designing, making, and installing that level of automation would cost shitloads of money. The whole reason why people aren't working there is because companies aren't spending money on employees. Why the fuck would they spend even more on automation, then?

Honestly, Yes, Adaptability is the most important trait of all. Expecting long term stability and your current education/skills to carry you your whole life is beyond foolish.

And if you werent prepared for something like this and have to work a crappy job for a while to get by then so be it.

And If someone thinks their above such jobs, refuse to work them and arent physically or mentally handicapped then then they can go fuck themselves.

So, a single machine that does one thing required a brand new store or a complete overhaul of a current store. That definitely sounds like something that a place unwilling to pay somebody more than minimum wage would be glad plunking down hundreds of thousands or more for. And there are still employees there.

Its almost like people dont want to wok a job that has shit pay/hours/and benefits, where you are told to be a slave to the customers every whim and a 10 cent yearly raise is considered generous.

On top of that, when people start to drop out or labor cuts are made daily, the burden is shifted onto the people who remain. This makes them fizzle out and leave as well.

For too long fast food places have had it too easy. The "cater to the customers and tell your employees to suck it" approach can only take them so far.
Literally the opposite at a lot of places near me. Minimum wage here is like $8 an hour and I'm working at Mcdonalds making $14/hr now. Just due to the company giving prices raises and most other fast food chains near us are paying at least 10-12$ an hour as well, and people still just don't want to work. Tons of both kids and adults coming in acting entitled like they don't have to actually do anything at a job then wonder why they get yelled at or fired or end up getting frustrated due to having to do their job and quit.

You can't blame unemployment.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/273909/seasonally-adjusted-monthly-unemployment-rate-in-the-us/

Currently it's at six percent.

So US pop is roughly 332,562,321. 94% of that is roughly 312,608,581.

So if you can't find 10 people out of that many to work for your fast food franchise. The problem isn't unemployment. It's your shitty wages and benefits.

Yeah, this is just part of the cycle of people talking shit at the low pay jobs but not taking the time to get some more marketable skills and then flip that into a career path in either the blue or white collar work world. I get that it's easier said than done but the low pay jobs in fast food are always gonna be like that because you don't need any real skillset to work them, beyond being a cook at a restaurant that actually needs them to do something beyond manning a deep fryer. And newsflash, career path jobs also suck now if you're just starting a move up the office ladder. Employees are disposable across the board.

I don't even think they need to increase pay that much. I mean ideally everywhere will go to at least $15 an hour soon but I don't think that's what is creating this shortage of staff.

Workforce satisfaction is generally more based on the culture at a workplace than wages and the customer is always right culture a lot of these corporations have is absolutely horrid for employee morale. If a customer is being an asshole staff should be able to kick them out without fear of retaliation when they go post some BS review online or call corporate.

I also think a lot of these places should hire security so employees aren't fearing for their physical safety with aggressive customers. Those two changes alone would lead to a much higher rate of employee retention.

I see other stores treating the employees like shit also and I don't see how anybody would want to be treated that way. Some people just don't have a choice though.

Once the government kicks them off of it they'll go back to work.

The people who should fuck themselves are those who think minimum wage is ok where its at and that it shouldnt be raised to a livable wage because yacht sales would start to decline.

Maybe raise your wages and your employees will not only be happier and better workers, youll get more people to apply which means you can be choosier in who you hire. But no, Ronald McDonald needs another yacht.

@CableZL

That's a huge reason. Also, throw in the virus and the danger that comes with being infected (and the chances of getting infected are GREATLY increased in a public job around many people one has to be at for eight hours) combined with having to enforce mask rules (which is a HUGE pain in the ass because a lot of people, especially adults, will argue and curse you out if you tell them there is a mask rule in place) combined with other pain in the ass costumers combined with workers having to wear a mask for EIGHT HOURS at work for the vast majority of the day (I'm not an anti-masker, but having to wear a mask for most of the eight hours straight for five days a week becomes very uncomfortable after a while for most people, which makes anti-masker customers even more of a pain in the ass because all they have to do is wear a mask for maybe 30 minutes at most while they shop and then they can go back to their cars and take off their masks. The workers don't have that luxury and most workers become VERY angry and bitter towards anti-masker costumers who curse them out over having to wear a mask for 20 fucking minutes while they shop while the worker has to wear a mask for most of the eight hours they work).

Combine all that with bosses that don't appreciate the workers (most bosses don't give a shit about workers) combined with workers also having to enforce distance protocols among customers (many customers will not follow 6 feet apart guidelines even with fucking stickers on the floor showing where to stand and will curse out workers who try to point this out) and combine this with most employers NOT offering health insurance for their workers (which puts workers in more danger if they get infected with the virus. A lot of people without health insurance will delay going to a doctor if they get sick due to cost and the COVID-19 virus is something you NEED to go to a doctor or even hospital for, you can't just stay home and sleep it off) all of this combined makes it where one is better off just staying the fuck home OR trying to find a job that is far easier and pays better and gives out proper benefits like health insurance (which is important during a pandemic).
