Yeah, I'm calling bullshit. The verses in the Bible that are supposedly against homosexuality seem to more against the kind of same sex behavior commonly practiced by pagans at the time (pederasty and temple prostitution).

There is nothing in the Bible against same sex relationships between two consenting adults. In fact, you could argue there's a same sex relationship in the Bible. King David, who God describes as a man after his own heart (1 Samuel 13:14, Acts 13:22) would be considered bisexual by today's standards. His love for Jonathan surpassed his love for women.

2 Samuel 1:26 (NIV)

I grieve for you, Jonathan my brother;
you were very dear to me.
Your love for me was wonderful,
more wonderful than that of women.

The "God" that makes all the rules in The Bible doesn't even exist, so why does it even matter?

"It says right after be nice to foreigners."

imo same-sex relationships were common enough throughout greece/rome/etc that it would have been explicitly and repeatedly denounced the way affairs between married people were, if it was really a matter of sin for ppl to marry someone of the same sex

there are verses that are interpreted that way, but imo it's no different than how some people tried to use verses to justify slavery even though Jesus' message is not pro-slavery at all.

Jesus and Paul and other writers were not shy about calling out specific things as being wrong multiple times, and what was written in Romans 1 could mean multiple things. it's also interesting to see people cite Romans 1 without ever citing Romans 2 LOL, which just shows who actually reads the text and who does not
