Would you move to Japan?

The job pays more than enough to live comfortably, so the only real issue is whether you want to move there or not

Yeah, my excessive weebing when I was younger actually made me decent with japanese. Immersion in the culture would likely handle the rest after some time. I can at least get my point across most of the time, anyway.

As long as I'm not going to have to come back here until post-covid (context: I live somewhere with almost zero covid). Travelling to a higher-risk location and returning is selfish - but if it's one-way I don't see the problem.

Beyond that, sure, I'd be open to it. I can already speak Japanese well enough to at least get around, buy essentials, etc.

Yeah probably. I'd need to learn Japanese from scratch and distance myself from my current friends, that part would suck, but I live in a third-world country so moving to Japan would be a huge upgrade.

God no. The pay would have to be much higher than "comfortable" for me to want to move to another country. I love anime, but I have no desire to move to Japan. I'd visit though, but I hear that a lot of Asian countries can be kind of... an "experience" for black people lol.

Depends on the job I guess. I already work remotely, if they allowed me to move to Japan and still work I might consider it, although more than likely I would have to work 3rd shift so I could be working when everyone else is.

No, unless they were offering me enough money that I could just up and retire in ten years. I've heard about working there. As a person of colour it would probably be worse for me than a Japanese or white guy.

Hell no. Their work culture is horrible. Not just in terms of hours but rampant racism and sexism as well.

I once interviewed with a Japanese company in the US and the questions they asked me were highly illegal.

What were some of the questions?
It was an outdoor sales engineer job

First thing the interviewer (a Japanese man) said when I walked in:
Oh, I didnt expect a woman (my name is foreign and not obviously female)

Questions he then asked
Are you married?
Do you have kids? Do you plan on having kids soon?
This is outdoors sales, this may be dangerous for a woman. How do you feel about that?
What does your husband think of you applying for this job? Does he agree?
Do you have a good car? Is it safe for you?

He made a bunch of comments that he would feel uneasy about me doing the job. I was then offered the position on the condition I worked at a desk for 6 months and the offer was considerably less than advertised.

Couldnt turn it down faster.
