MN resident here. We like to act like snow and ice are no big deal, as if our roads aren't a complete shit show during and after the first snowstorm of the season. Everyone forgets how to drive in snow for the first week or so. Cars, and trucks, in the ditch up and down the highway. And that's with nearly all of us having snow tires on our cars, with 4wd or AWD, and otherwise being completely prepared for winter. I can't blame anyone for having trouble with this weather. Why would anyone bother to prepare for something they've never experienced, or something that doesn't happen nearly often enough to worry about?

Not going to comment on the energy situation, other than that it sounds like Texas shot themselves in the dick on that front.
