I brush...

according to statistics, 80% of people brush their teeth as soon as they wake up while the others do it after they've had breakfast since the assumption is, why brush when you wake up when you've had breakfast first?

in reality, it's actually best to brush right when you wake up cause all of the bacteria in your mouth has been in there all night in your sleep and if you eat something after you wake up, it just makes it WORSE!!

so which do you do?

Apparently, it's bad to brush to soon after breakfast, IIRC... Because certain foods will weaken the enamel, and brushing will brush it off or whatever...

80% of Ducky's statistics are made up on the spot. I'm not sure most people bother to brush their teeth in the morning.

That doesn't make any sense on any number of levels. If you've brushed your teeth after you're done eating for the day, you're not going to just have bacteria come from nowhere. More importantly, you're supposed to brush some time after every meal because that's when the food gets stuck there.

That depends on the food and would be true of every meal. It's mostly an issue with certain fruits and juices iirc.

True, but I never said only breakfast. I mentioned breakfast because that's what the question was asking about.

I usually skip breakfast. If I didn't I'd be late for work; I have trouble getting up.

Well, idk what kind of toothpaste they use, but why would I brush my teeth when I wake up if Im going to have breakfast shortly after? I dont want to ruin my food with a minty taste. Plus then Id be going out with food on my breath.

Nah, its definitely better to brush after breakfast.

I don't usually eat or brush my teeth when I wake up

I generally don't eat anything until the late in the afternoon and brush my teeth before I leave the house, which is generally in the afternoon as well, though I guess if I work an early shift I will when I get up because I only get up with enough time to do that before work

This is true. I also don't brush immediately because I drink coffee immediately. I brush three times a day but usually it's in between meals and before bed

related, you're not supposed to brush your teeth right after vomiting either since it's bad for the enamel. Bulimia harm reduction websites go over this.

(I never was able to make myself vomit, but the more you know)

Yeppers. Stomach acids are not good for teeth. Water with a diluted mouth wash helps more.
