It appears the remake of CBS' Walker, Texas Ranger that originally starred Chuck Norris as the martial artist/gun slinging crime fighting Texas Cop is not getting bright reviews from critics which now has a 33% approval and stars former Supernatural alum, Jared Padelecki.

Critics say the show is aimed squarely on a youth crowd with a pretty boy sheriff in Austin who is more LIBERAL than Norris' portrayal.

Anna Fricke, the creator of the reboot says this version of Walker uses the mexico detention border of children put in cages by the Trump Administration set the tone of the series as Walker partners with a hispanic officer who sympathizes with the people wanting a better life in America.

Fricke says they did not want to make it political as they'd rather pose questions but now that BLM, COVID and conspiracy theories happened that changed the world, they decided to incorporate it into the show.

Critics however who reviewed the show says it's bland, slow and forgettable as the writers don't know what to do with the show and despite the show having several conservative characters, it still has a liberal slant with mixed messaging.

Tomorrow is the Premiere of Walker and is one of the most anticipated shows to air on the CW as viewers will decide if it's worth a watch

Walker wasn't a good show itself. And while I was young when I watched it, I didn't think Walker the show or himself were particularly conservative. Unless we're just supposed to assume?

I've seen the promos, it looks bad. Granted, the original show was schlock - I've seen reruns, it's a mediocre action show for people's dads and grandpas. But this reboot looks bad in its own way.

CW shows are all so superficial. They have a bunch of generically pretty actors reading through hackneyed dogshit for 22 minutes a pop, and for all the visual gloss they try to smear over their shows like Riverdale and Vampire Diaries, it all comes off looking incredibly cheap and fake. The dialogue and acting is a cheap pantomime, the sets and actors look cheap and fake, and nothing about any CW show I've ever watched has been substantive to any degree.

Walker looks just as soulless and fake as Riverdale. It can, and should, bomb. The original show wasn't much better, it's a generic timeslot filler - I'd rather watch Diagnosis: Murder over that crap. But Walker looks particularly cheap and fake, especially compared to the original.

The point of the original was seeing Chuck Norris doing spin kicks and kicking ass. How the fuck do you replace Chuck Norris with Jared Padalecki? Who thought this was a good idea?

Walker Texas Ranger was a bad show with bad martial arts, but that's why it was enjoyable. This show just looks bad. I read it doesn't even have martial arts smh

tbf, these are all intentional since the over-the-topness and kind of fake-ness are really well received by the teenagers who make up 95% of the CW's viewership. Teens want pretty people in over-the-top situations that they would never actually be in.

I wouldn't mind that either, I just wish those pretty people could act convincingly that they're in those situations on a set that doesn't look as sterile as a nuclear power plant worker's sperm count.

Nobody cares about these old boomer shows anymore. Don't know why they keep bothering to try make them happen again. What even was the last successful one? Hawaii 5-0?

I don't know. Mostly all these reboots of old shows makes me feel old. I didn't really watch, but I remember it being on when I was really little.

As others have said... It's a CW show.

But also, while Chuck Norris is conservative as fuck, from what I remember, the original show actually had fairly positive protrayal of Mexicans.

I'm getting tired of reboots in general. Are we out of original ideas? Or is nostalgia so overdone that I'm becoming nostalgic for fresh ideas once in awhile.
