I just wasn't 100% sure if I should call them rivals. Arthur's role was more of a big brother's, showing John some tough love. --- The pamphlet on First Life contains 93 lies and 7 truths. It can also work for villains in general as long as there's a bigger villain for them to turn against lol Most of those those aren't "rivals who redeemed themselves", they're enemies turned allies (particularly in the case of somebody like Vegeta). That's a completely different trope. And it's also a kinda lazy trope and it's overused to the extent that it's pretty to telegraph half the time.
