I'm not going to go as far as saying he "would" have won, but I think it would've at least been a much closer call, and I could see it having tipped the other way - I just don't think it's a "in the bag" thing.

Certianly would've been a much better outcome than either of the options the US did have that year.

Just on the basis of campaign infrastructure, it's hard to imagine Bernie repeating Hillary's mistake in terms of dropping the ball completely in the rust belt.
The variable is how invested the Democratic Party would be in him winning(or losing).

I mean, the media absolutely hates him and would both sides the crap out of the contest(this extremist wants to ban Muslims, and this extremist wants to RAISE M-err..YOUR TAXES!!!), but I'm not sure they could have done worse than what they actually did.
Bernie also has the benefit of being a clear, concise messenger in a way Clinton never was.

'16 Bernie would potentially do worse with black voters, especially older ones though. '20 Bernie was really leaps-and-bounds better in outreach.
