I'm Canadian, born 1991. I find it so weird that my very general awareness of politics coincides with 9/11 occurring (10 years old in 2001). I just literally cannot picture Bill Clinton on TV as president. I didn't hear anything about Monica Lewinsky. My parents had the news on all the damn time! I just have a lot of very vivid childhood memories. I guess I literally tuned whatever I saw out. Memory is weird!

That being said, I do remember Jean Chretien, but he was Prime Minister for a larger overlap of 2001.

He was a hilarious president, it was awesome.

Cause there was all sorts of stuff he was doing that you could criticize him for and that comedians and pop culture were making fun of him for, but at the same time the fabric of our country wasnt being ripped apart and we werent constantly waging war.

Why would it be surprising that you wouldn't remember somebody who was a foreign leader when you were a very young child? You would have been about 1 year old when Clinton was bungling the LA Riots. You were around 3 when he was ducking Whitewater. You would have been 6-7 when he #MeToo'd an intern. You can hardly be expected to know much. Even many of the people on this board born in the 80s AND in the US had little awareness of the kind of shenanigans he was involving himself in.

I just have vivid memories from ages 5-10 of things on TV, and past 10 it's very vivid and specific. Canadian news has A LOT of American content, but maybe that skyrocketed post 9-11. I mean, I remember so much from the Afghan and Iraq wars, I remember when Abu Ghrahib broke, waterboarding breaking, plenty of friendly fire reports from US, Canadians, British...yeah, of course my awareness would be a lot higher age 12/13. Just pondering my child memory. You're right, it's not surprising.

Or botching the Elian Gonzalez situation as horribly as possible. Which ironically is the only time the right cared about an immigrant

What happened to Monica was pretty messed up

She was 22 years old when that shit went down and most of the country either vilified her or made jokes about her for years

I really doubt if most Americans were in her shoes as some 22 year old girl and the most powerful dude in the world wanted to get freaky with you that theyd be all high and mighty and remember their morals

That's why I enjoy the Tom Green special, although I can see why it might be boring or painful for others. It presents her as very normal, human, silly and kind.

I know that he was prone to tripping and falling!

I feel like people remember Truman, Eisenhauer, Kennedy, LBJ, Nixon, are then a little hazy on Ford and Carter, then are pretty good with Reagan, Bush Sr, Clinton, Bush Jr, Obama, Trump.

Maybe GHWB? He was nestled among much bigger personalities, particularly given he was between Reagan and Clinton.

Clinton was the best of the Democratic presidents, Biden is going to be bland compared to him, not to mention he's already starting off terrible with the unfeasible $15 minimum wage, if that part of the stimulus passes, say goodbye to nearly every job in America, it's all going to be outsourced.

What's your take on Clinton and the LA Riots? He did say some pretty crappy stuff, but so did everyone at that point in time. Government and society had a really puritanical bent at that point in time, that's for sure (very ironic).

Taking a quick skim...Ron Paul's take was a little...yikes.
