Not to be a mad, but simply "attending" the protest in and of itself wasn't a bad thing... maybe coulda even been a good thing. You just had to keep a respectful distance, have a protest permit, and wear a mask and maintain personal distance.

Those legit dudes, or fucking normies as I currently see them, have terrible critical thinking skills.

All the people who are now clamoring to protect their reputations by saying "oh I didn't storm the Capitol, I was outside! Why are you calling me a bigot, I didn't wave those flags!" They have failed to connect that they actively went out of their way to support a man and a cause that also invited those insurrectionists and supremacists to the same event. I don't know if it's willful ignorance or not, but at this point it doesn't matter. They are bystanders who saw those people standing around, cheering the same rallying cries that day, and they didn't seem to question their shared allegiance at all that day.

I guess. I tried to give some benefit of the doubt, but it looks like anyone there for a normal protest probably would have also had the optics to leave when they saw the dumbs start

We are past that point. Literally the main reason of that event was to bolster Trump's claims that a fair and free election was stolen from him. Regardless of whether they showed up in neo-Nazi garb or never joined in on the ransack of the Capitol, they were all motivated enough to travel from around the country and to support an absolute farce to upend our democratic process.

I'm gonna sorta back Lok up here and express my opinion that citizens should be able to occupy the capitol and its establishments. It's why we have the second amendment; when the government fails to do its duty then citizens need to step in and hold them accountable, by force if necessary. Now the logistics of such an endeavor is way more complicated with 50 states than with 13 but the premise is the same should the collective citizens of the country feel this course of action is necessary.

This group wasn't there to exercise their rights or for any other legitimate reason so they should all see the fullest punishment available, but it does suck that their actions will discourage legitimate attempts at citizen uprising and has everyone thinking politicians should be untouchable in their rule.

The GOP has always played that "voter fraud" card when they lose elections because what they're saying is Black people legally have no right to vote therefore those votes should not count and it's fraudulent which is absurd because the VRA which never should have been needed to begin with, gave Black people the right to vote in 1965 so therefore those claims of voter fraud are false.

The racist Southern politicians in the 1960s were upset at the passage of the VR and CR Acts because they knew if those Black people in the South who had been mistreated under the racist Jim Crow policies of the South got the chance to vote, they would not vote for them so they felt that their stranglehold of Supremacy in the South that they had held for over 100 years was now in jeopardy and that's what this is all about.

True, but it was largely an inside job, and we're hoping that's why there was so little resistance. There's plenty of video evidence of both police and people inside letting them walk right in, and other politicians supporting them and even giving away whereabouts of certain people.

In any case, the country has never looked weaker to the rest of the world than it does right now.
