i like the characters, the duke leto and gurney halleck are really enjoyable so far
i like a lot of the concepts but there's so much foreshadowing that i feel like i can read some of the major upcoming beats pretty easily

Yeah definitely, the first one is in some ways a fairly prototypical hero's journey. Some pretty interesting concepts on top of it, like you say; and the world was pretty unique I found. I haven't yet gotten around to the sequels but from what I've heard that's when things start to get a bit twisted

If youre asking for the latest book I finished, that would be Unveiled: How Western Liberals Empower Radical Islam by Yasmine Mohammed.

If youre asking for the latest book I applied my eyeballs to, that would be Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates.

It's the man who makes the name, not the name that makes the man (maybe)

I mean look at Dylan - his name's Bob.

That reminds me I've been wanting to get back to reading Chronicle: The Bob Dylan Story, I got sidetracked from it years ago but I was loving it

I've been watching Hannibal, incidentally, the show.
If you enjoy the show, I'd check out Red Dragon. On that note, I hope s3 of Hannibal is as enjoyable as the first two seasons.

i've been into learning more about physics lately. i'm currently making my way through Neil deGrasse Tyson's and Avis Lang's Accessory to War: The Unspoken Alliance Between Astrophysics and the Military, but it's been a pretty slow read, because it's quite dense, and it has like 150 pages of footnotes. there are literally dozens of footnotes in every chapter. it really breaks the flow having to click/tap to go to the footnote and read it and then click/tap to go back to where you were.

before that, i read NdGT's Astrophysics for People in a Hurry, and it was pretty good, but before that, i read Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time and Brief Answers to the Big Questions, and i thought they were both great!
Ever read any Carl Sagan?

no, but that's a great suggestion! i've watched all of NdGT's revival of Cosmos and greatly enjoyed it, and i've been meaning to look up Carl Sagan's original at some point. i should look up some of his books as well. any in particular you'd recommend?
Cosmos, hands down.

The Fires of Vengeance by Evan Winter.

it's the second part of a fantasy series that uses an African backdrop and aesthetic as inspiration.

I really liked it; the dude writes action very well, and it's very much an action series.

How did it end up being compared to the first book? I have it on my shelf, havent read it yet. I did enjoy the first book but it kinda was honestly just a sports story when you think about it, hoping for something grander for the sequel.

He also wrote the John Dies at the End trilogy.

It's also possible that you're thinking of a CEman who used to have an account named David Wong.
