I'm still stuck on Genichiro in Sekiro

I just barely managed to beat the abyss watchers in ds3 after a using an npc summon

The final boss of Clock Tower 3 was just stupid and tedious. Despite the game being very difficult I threw in the towel after 2 or 3 serious attempts. I knew I was capable of doing it, I just lost interest.

I'm going to say yes, but I can't think of any right off the bat. I know there have been. Probably a jrpg boss I'm sure.

Although I do remember being stuck on genocide sans on a subsequent playthrough despite having beaten him a couple times before... Just couldn't beat him that time. Dunno why...

Got to the end of ffxiii 2 without properly leveling my monsters and got stuck on the final boss.

Was really busy irl around the time so I ended up dropping it. Took a few years for me to get back around to finish it

The boss at the end of Chapter 8 in FF13, the one you fight with Sazh and Vanille. I tried many attempts to beat that boss but then just quit. Like 6 months later I tried again on a whim and beat it on my first attempt

I don't think I've ever been absolutely stuck because I couldn't beat a boss battle, at least not as an adult. When I was a kid I had to give the controller to my cousin so he could beat the bat boss in Zelda LttP.

Fire Leo in Viewtiful Joe when I was a kid. Probably wasn't until 5 or 6 years later when I finally did beat him lol

Honorable mention to Zoids on the GameCube had me pulling my hair out fighting the Ultrasaurer. But after a nights rest I was able to win. Probably just got too tilted to play properly.

Kingdom Harts had Chernobog as a run killer, lmao. Years later I dug out the memory card with that file on it, did a bunch of grinding then finished the game.

FFX had Seymour Flux as my run killer. Wasnt until this year that I had the energy to go through the whole game again. In retrospect I dont know how that happened, as I had the dang players guide.

FF12 killed me in the forest with this dumbass dragon that years later I found out was optional. I still havent beaten the game.

Castlevania had Frankenstein. Later I learned the correct way to play the game (pick a weapon and save it to rack up multipliers) and then breezed through the rest of the game

When I was a kid and rented Paper Mario, the cloud boss was impossible for me and my friend.

When I was older and I bought it, was able to beat it/the game.

Mysterious Figure in KHBBS comes to mind.

I redid that fight, no joke, hundreds of times with all 3 characters. No strategy I could come up with worked and it was a miracle if I could survive longer then 10 seconds. Eventually frustration would set in and I'd have to turn the game off.

Things however did finally work out, it took years however. Finally managed to beat him when the collection arrived on PS3, after many tries and lots of frustration. Even managed to eventually beat him with all 3 characters.

Never again though. Never again.

"boss" might not be the right word, but the last match in Top Rank Tennis was the bane of my existence for like 4-5 years worth of vacation car rides. I did manage to win when i tried again as an adult, after a few days of failures, though.

That's because combat in BBS is legitimate garbage.

I think the closest one for me are the Godhome bosses in Hollow Knight. Not because I can't beat them, but because they're all at the end of boss rushes - with the most difficult one being at the end of a 40-boss gauntlet. And that sounds like torture.

Oh! And I don't know if this counts but...Donkey Kong in Donkey Kong 64. I don't know what it was, but I just could not beat that fucking arcade cabinet as a kid. And this meant I couldn't beat the game.

I got to the final, final boss of Dragon Quest XI and gave up as it just required an inordinate amount of grinding and I'd already been playing the game for so long.

Sinspawn Gui in FFX.the first time I tried playing the game. For some reason I must have super tuned out the Sphere Grid tutorial because it turned out that up to that point I hadn't used it at all. I remember being super confused why the boss kept OHKOing everyone except Auron lol. When I came back to it like a year later I had restarted the game completely, got back to that point now actually using the Sphere Grid and pretty much ran over it and the rest of the game.

I don't remember but if it did happen it was some jrpg boss that simply required an investment of hours of grinding to get there, which I loathe.

Skill based bosses I eventually git gud.

Genichiro took me a few tries the first time, never had an issue with him later.

I remember butting my head into Fume Knight for a while. When I beat him I finally learned how to play Dark Souls games properly.

Proto-Behemoth is tougher than the final boss and it's the only enemy in the game that managed to kill my God Chichu.

For me, Shaolong Gui in FF XIII, although 1) it's an optional super-boss and 2) I missed killing it [literally] by one second.

I did quit sekiro, but that was because I didn't like the spaces between the bosses...

I tried probably 30-40 times, at one point I got him so low I only needed one hit in the final phase but then I died, so I consider it a win but it really wasnt

Yes. I played through the whole game of Overlord and lost at the final boss. I would have had to mindlessly farm shit for several hours to get back up to where I was so I just uninstalled the game lmao.

Maybe I was playing it wrong, but the basic mechanic was collecting little demons that could be spec'd into like different elements (so the Water ones could swim and the Fire ones could throw fireballs and stuff like that). You have to farm essence from animals to be able to summon them, and then you can only summon a capped number of them at a time.

Final boss changes elements and stuff like that so you need to mix up which minions you send against him when, plus you've got his own minions to fight against. Long story short I sucked at the game and had no way of finishing him, and when it respawned me I had 0 essence.

I know I come off as arrogant and elitest sometimes but abyss watchers are the easiest bosses in that game.. they can be backstabbed and parried

The final boss of either Ninja Gaiden 1 or 2 for NES.

And man two of the most craziest games in terms of difficulty for retro games was Faxanadu and 7th Saga. Nearly impossible games, god damnit.

idk if I can think of a particular boss I gave up on but I didn't bother with a good portion of the dlc in ds2 because the levels themselves were a pain and I was just like "fuck it, I'm moving on to ds3"

-Dracula in the Castlevania III (American version). Atleast I don't think I beat him? I honestly forget if I beat him or not weirdly enough. I just remember being pissed about not respawning right outside Dracula's room if you were defeated and starting all the way back at the beginning if you game over'd.
