I haven't met anyone who is ok with what happened to her.

Is this just a case of a corrupt system with too many allies for the police in the courts or something

People say it was justified because there was a warrant and allegedly the cops did what they were supposed to do.

Try this one TC...

The cops get a no knock warrant for some apartment.

They go to and bash open the door and go in to arrest the guy. The guy is a criminal and from bed draws on the cops. Manages to squeeze off a shot. The cops return fire and pencilize him.

Unfortunately he's sleeping with someone in bed with him. That lady is also hit with return fire and killed.

So it could be argued that the cops were being shot at so they absolutely had the right to return fire. Just unfortunate that this woman was there. They certainly were in no way looking to harm her. They just wanted to arrest the guy. Then he drew on them and they had to return fire.

This, but I've heard people say that the warrant was very valid in that Breonna Taylor was involved in the boyfriends drug trade directly or that she just allowed it to happen at their place.

Like A LOT of people have a very heroic and ideal view of law enforcement and can't be confronted with evidence to the contrary. If the police were there then they must have had a very good reason. These types of people always work backwards from this premise. They "wait for all of the facts" everytime.

Except you're leaving out the fact that the guy turned out not to be a criminal at all. Whoever was in charge of that investigation got fed some bad information and that caused the unfortunate and accidental death of this poor woman. There is no defense, the guy in charge of the investigation should be held responsible for fucking up. The cops were just doing what they were told. There's always the possibility of a shoot out when dealing with criminals, so I don't think we should be mad at them.

There is no good defense of this. They broke in the middle of the night in plain clothes. Most gun rights people should be arguing that the homeowners were justified it trying to protect themselves. If this were my house and a group of random people broke in not in uniform while I was sleeping I would be shooting at them too.

except there's conflicting reports of whether or not they announced they were police. the guy thought he was legally fighting back against a home invasion since witnesses say the police never identified themselves. there's apparently photos of a cop that has a body cam so there should be a definitive version of events. but for some reason, the police haven't released it yet, which throws into question what the cops are saying

add to the fact that they were trying to bribe the BF into implicating breonna taylor in a pathetic attempt to "justify" their actions after the fact, and the whole thing is pointing to the cops doing anything they can to cover their asses

true. since police have shown they can be as disorganized as any random group of people, give conflicting orders, and generally not behave in any professional way there's no way to tell if the people busting in truly are cops in plainclothes or actual home invaders just yelling "police" in an effort to get an easy robbery

It's not the case at all.

1. The warrant was issued to the wrong house.
2. The criminal the warrant was for was already arrested and in jail.
3. Officers were in plain clothes.
4. Neither Breonna nor her boyfriend had any warrants at the time. The boyfriend was only charged with shooting at the police which were in plain clothes and did not identify themselves.

The ruling was just because they just completed a months long investigation and gave it to an impartial grand jury who had all the facts of the case and witness testimony as opposed to what internet lawyers say.

isn't a grand jury where a prosecutor is allowed to bring only whatever evidence they feel is necessary and not the entirety of evidence collected, so that the jury is influenced heavily depending on what is brought to light?

Im gonna be real. I havent followed this terribly closely, but I have a coworker who has and justifies the polices actions (also hes black but I dont know if that matters) and this is what he told me:

According to him, theres a (~)48 page record online about the investigation that was conducted on Breonnas boyfriend and it tied her to drug trade with not only this boyfriend but with another boyfriend who was also selling drugs. Apparently, according to this report, Breonna was a habitual criminal and even has a record of having a dead body found in a car she had rented.

On the day that she was killed, apparently the cops had a no-knock warrant, but knocked anyway and announced their presence which prompted the boyfriend to begin firing through the door. The cops returned fire through the door in self-defense and Breonna was in the hallway and got hit.

I havent done my research so I dont know how accurate this all is, and keep in mind that he still doesnt think it was a positive thing that Breonna was killed, but he defends the polices action because they were defending themselves (basically, you know whats can happen if you fire or associate with people who fire on the police) and considers Breonnas death to be unfortunate collateral damage.

Yeah I've heard something along these lines, but the people I've seen share this information have been the types to fall for right wing conspiracy theories. I'd describe them as Qanon lite. So I just won't take it the slightest bit seriously until I see something pretty substantial on it.

I certainly don't have a ton to add, but it's something.

That is a pretty accurate synopsis, but I think they busted down the door after announcing themselves and before the shooting started. Frankly its bizarre how many different accounts are coming out of this case.
