Note at this point last year, leading the Iron Man Stats was the teflon queen herself, Yuffie, at 4 snipes; three characters (Rydia, Goffard, Gilgamesh) at 2 apiece; and Kefka, Edward and Rikku with one each. Rikku joining the list on last year's Day 75, the infamous "16 seconds".

Of course Kefka and Edward ran those early snipesaves all the way to 4th and 2nd place respectively, so it really is never over until it's over.

The teflon legend, Minwu, drops off after 7 snipes and 58 days (starting at the first day of soft boots). Unfortunately (and surprisingly) he wasn't able to build on that tally for 27 additional days after the 7th.

We also lost Zidane with the near-hard boot on Day 11, lasting 61 extra days (it should have been Quina!!)

Beatrix is now in top spot with 5 and Kain following behind with 4. With the rule change now in effect and save counts increasingly intensifying, how much farther can they push it?

(Extra fun stat: last year Days 69 through 74 were only Vincent and Yuffie snipes, 6 for 6 days. This year, Days 67 through 73 were all Kain and Beatrix except for one day, so 6 out of 7. Nice.)

Yuffie is the active "durability" champ with 58 additional days of survival so far, just needs to survive through Day 78 to top Zidane and a new influx of savers seems destined to keep her afloat for a bit longer. She's also the only snipe during boots to still be around (Beatrix's first missing out on that by 3 days).

So all in all, a lot more close calls and ongoing survival than last year. It did feel like we were getting more eliminations for characters who weren't on the iron man list and I think the current crop having a collective 19 snipes over last year's 13 at this point, bears that out.

Cool stats Martin! Seems like Yuffie will win the durability race unless something unexpected happens (how does she do it!), but I wonder if Beatrix or Kain can reach Minwu at all. They might even face off against each other at some point. Wild that Zidane almost got booted then made it so far.

(Thank you! Everybody has been very kind to me and generally pretty civil to each other this contest I think? I did feel bad for GMUN and Inviso after sniping out Layle and Faris, and for Bane and linkhatesganon after I held back on the Lulu save the day she went out, but thankfully nobody has gotten mad at me yet. Maybe this contest is past the days of the wild controversies? Guess I'll have to see how this year shakes out first!)

We were all like that once.

We weren't all always innocent - I'm pretty sure my first ever smffffc save was a final save of the round save of cid, which i then deleted to save sephiroth a couple minutes later, causing drama and a rule change

or maybe it was the other order or other participants I don't remember, the point is it was great
