They knocked it out of the park with the Shadow of the Colossus remake.

I love the idea of remakes and remasters, but in practice I seldom finish them if they're games I've already played.

I played the shit out of SotC on PS2 but when the remaster released on PS3 I killed a couple Colossi and called it a day. Almost passed on the remake because of this but took a chance and man was I glad I did. imho it's one of those unicorn remakes that surpasses the original.

For that reason, I'm pretty stoked for the Demon's Souls remake. It's in good hands.

I recently replayed it. The game is still great. Will absolutely pick up the remake.

Only thing I'm concerned about....is that it was the first game in the series. So even though they are "remaking" it with updated graphics and textures, etc..........it has all the same boring spells that the later games dramatically improved upon and added to.

It might feel like a step back in regards to weapons/items/spells.

I feel like they should ADD content to keep it fresh. Add a bunch of unique spells. New armor sets. New weapons. Etc.

I know it wouldn't be faithful to the original...........but if you've played Dark Souls 1, 2, and 3.....going back to Demon's Souls kinda....hurts...gameplay-wise.

Just putting that out there.

They did tweak a few things in the SotC remake but it was largely faithful to the original.

I expect some quality of life improvements and modernization, but I don't expect anything drastic.

They don't need to add a ton of content. Just some rebalancing should be enough.

I would expect them to eliminate the jankiness in the controls. I'd expect it to play a lot smoother. Which leads me to wonder if they'll adjust enemies and bosses and overall combat to compensate. Time will tell.

Considering how niche the first game was at the time, and compared to how the subsequent games grew in popularity, and then throw in the fact that the servers were taken offline, I'd say this is one PS3 title that's ripe for a remake

Yeah I hear ya. Honestly I wasn't sold on the games until Bloodborne. I had played Demon's and Dark Souls prior, but never finished them. Bloodborne I absolutely loved and played the hell out of (haven't got platinum but I've done all three endings)

Went back and played the earlier games and had much more fun with them.

But not every game is going to be your cup of cocoa. Souls games might never grow on you

I can get behind this. Had a late start at the Souls series, but I thoroughly enjoy Dark Souls Remastered, so I am more than happy to give a Demon's Soul remake a go.

Most of the time it's more a matter of being patient and aware of your surroundings. Sometimes you have to memorize a level a bit because there are Mega Man style obstacles that will basically insta-kill you even if you're ready for it.

Then there's some boss battles which often have some trick to them which is not directly spelled out for you.

RE4 needs a remake and yet it doesnt.

It came out in 2005 and its still just as fun to play today as it was back then. Absolutely amazing.
