Yes, however the surface is too small, the frame too weak, and there's no vent to stop the stored air piling up deflecting still air from the trap on a standard umbrella.

Only if youre a good-guy cartoon. Otherwise it folds up and you proceed to fall off of a cliff somewhere in what looks like Arizona. Definitely dont try this if youre a coyote.

I've heard that coyotes can defy gravity up until the point they look downwards

Since Kirby is like...a sentient balloon or something he could probably use a bandana as a parachute.

This is probably fact. I saw a show on it. There was video and it did happen.

It'd have to be one large, strong umbrella, tbh. Parachutes, gliders, etc, rely on a large surface area. Your average umbrella doesn't come close.

No way. I was thinking about it potentially working horizontally, like how parachutes can slow down dragsters, but that wouldnt work well for the umbrella either.

Not only can it be a parachute, it can also be a magic flying device (Mary Poppins), or a machine gun (Oswald Cobblepot), or even a bullet-deflecting shield (Kingsmen)

Have you ever been in a strong wind where the umbrella inverted? That's what will happen before you reach terminal velocity.

What about a beach umbrella or two beach umbrellas?
