It's for "outstanding" business students that "demonstrate interest in environmental studies"... all I did AFAIK was enroll in an environmental activism club and put it on my resume. I only attended one meeting... to be fair COVID was a big part of why that happened that way. But I also just remembered I never paid my dues :/

I feel a little guilty because I have friends who are working class / poor with worse financial aid because the non business undergrads dont get as much alumni repayment, and I feel like the stuff they study, like psychology, is more important to society. I'm also building towards an english major although I dont get a penny from the arts & sciences school...

I have Creative Writing as a minor but I think it want to upgrade it to a full English degree. Writing is something I think of as a passion although I don't do it as often as I should. Business I'm not sure what I'll do with yet.

Don't.

Everyone gets opportunities that come their way as long as they put themselves out there and try new things. It may not seem like much, going to a single meeting, and throwing it on your resume, but it's a door to an opportunity that you opened yourself.

This is how luck works. Someone who steps out of their comfort zone is going to receive more attention and opportunities than someone who plays it safe. To give a quick quick example, a certain anonymous racist weab underwater basketweaving imageboard is a GOLDMINE for learning about investing. People were literally being minted millionaires every year from there and yet I never had a clue about this because I only perused one board, the videogame. All of this wealth of information was just 1 click away. Literally. It took me falling into a trap of desperation and wanting to change my life and boom, made that click. 2 years later and I nearly have a half million dollar portfolio solely thanks to that site.

So accept the opportunities that come to you with open arms, and just as you shouldn't feel jealous of those seemingly doing better than you, don't feel guilty for those who seemingly are doing worse off than you. Everyone will have their opportunity to shine.

Reddit is not a good place for discussions, the upvote mechanics incentivizes people to agree and follow the crowd to avoid being censored by downvotes. Even worse, said basket weaving site HATES reddit and so they spread misinformation on there. In fact, one of the main projects I follow, Chainlink, was actively fudded (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) where they actively downvoted any positive discussions and spread misinformation. So yes, go on the basketweaving site. Learn how to navigate the site and follow the discussion and you'll learn immensely.

I browsed /biz/ during the COVID crash but I've never been able to sort out all the infighting between "Linkies", crypto speculators, etc. But really I just don't have cash flow to play around with that kind of stuff yet

I've used it for literature discussions but haven't gone in a solid year because it devolved into Jew-bashing and porn. It was top tier entertainment before it got run with the politics drifters but I've never considered it for anything instructive.

Linkies are certainly hostile to new peeps since it's gaining momentum in price which is attracting newcomers. Previously, people have been buying up under a dollar when the "news" amounted to what breadcrumbs and connections the community could dig up. By that, I mean having to trust unverified leakers' information, and researching every person's twitter and linkedin account to see who is following who to make connections of what companies are in contact with other companies under NDA. So there's a lot of pride to be had to getting in early and being right about the project as opposed to now where there is confirmation after confirmation after more confirmation that Chainlink is going to be massive. I mean, within the last 30 days, we have had China announcing their smart cities will be using Chainlink as their oracle and launched 135 nodes (why the price pretty much doubled I believe), Deutsche Telekom's subsidiary T-Systems being a node operator and selling their telecom data in the network, and now Korea's biggest banks are going to use Chainlink to offer price feed data.

But I always recommend people get in on crypto even with $20. We're at the beginning of the 4th industrial revolution, more accurately here, the smart contract revolution. This is like getting into the internet revolution in the 90's. You want to have your foot in the door. In fact, Coinbase has free crypto challenges where you just need to answer questions after watching videos on whatever crypto they're showcasing. Watch the videos, answer the questions, boom, you have $30 to trade into Link and you'll make a pretty penny into the next year. No money spent.

That's one thing I've just accepted, they hate everyone. It drives me nuts to see how much they rail blacks, especially the "BBC" memes, and they're always attacking Indians. But the information is valuable for me to put up my nose and look away. Dumpster dive bro!
