As in fired when you put in your notice. Meaning you just don't like your job so much that you just want out ASAP, so you ask your boss if you they can just let you go early so you don't have to work your two weeks notice and instead have them off or just start your new job immedietly.

I get that if you hate your job and your coworkers, but I have nothing against them. So my only option for getting out early is to ask them if they can just let me go.

It depends. I know one guy accepted a new job offer, and they asked him to start sooner than expected. So he didnt even get to put his two weeks in. Though, putting it in isnt necessary. But its still good to do. And while I havent had it done, I do know some employers will actually tell the person who puts in their two weeks notice to just go home, and they will pay then for their two weeks still. It hasnt happened to me, but I know people who say it happened to them... If you ask them, they might. Though, thats basically just like quitting without the notice, except you asked, so...

Yeah it was a new job. I hated it and the folk I worked with didn't help so after my first wage I took my break and never came back. I was 16 and had just left school at the time.

That sort of happened at my job. We got a new cleaning lady. On the first day, she went to lunch, and never came back... Well, until a few weeks later, she returned the key she had...

If there is something really bad about the job, say the manager/owner screwed you over etc, then you should just leave. I didn't when I was young, I still gave more than a month notice and trained a replacement. I was too freaking nice.

Otherwise, just let them know your giving your two weeks but really don't wanna work there anymore and would be happy if they replaced you sooner. Often they can hire someone within a few days if they try, and most places don't want someone working for them that doesn't wanna be there.

I still would say give at least two weeks for any normal job that doesn't screw you over etc, if at all possible. It's the right thing to do, even if you don't like the job at all.

My work has a clause thanks to the union, where you get up to like two weeks pay if you're leaving the job cause it's "unbearable". I haven't seen it used, but I seem to be one of the few who knows about it. After reading it a few times, you just submit a letter saying why you are quitting, and they'll either consider a change to make things better or give you up to two weeks pay before you finally leave.

If one's plan is to get fired so they can go on unemployment, that's sad. Get a job.

Also, in general if you have not worked somewhere for along time, you can just totally ignore it in the future, not adding it to your resume etc, so getting fired really doesn't matter that much in such cases. If your working at say oh.....mc donalds, and you get fired after 3 weeks, it's basically like it never happened if you want it that way.

To make it even easier to deal with situations like that, you can run your own job/buisiness on the side, even just mowing laws, or repairing computers etc, and then use that on your resume to fill in times when you were not working, or you got fired from a job you don't wanna claim on your resume.

True. And Im not surprised. The company isnt the best. And make pretty bad decisions. And I think they maybe regretting some of them now. I know many others who have been fired or quit. After I left, the other two co-workers I had also left. Too much shit. There was one person left in our department. And he was still pretty new. And doesnt drive, so cant really work alone. And doesnt have a reliable way to get home afterwards... We also use to drive him how with the work vehicles. But they wanted us to start using our personal vehicles and gas...

Nope. I just walked off.
I did this, once.

Job was M-F, weekends on a volunteer basis and there was always plenty of volunteers.

We were hit with a pretty gnarly snowstorm that shut us down for two days, and our deliveries were way behind schedule. Boss comes around asking the crew if we could work the weekend to catch up.

My birthday fell on that weekend. Normally, I don't give a shit about working on my birthday, but I had made plans with my family and my aunt was making me a lasagna for my "special birthday dinner". I'd already committed to being there.

Explained this to my boss, he said okay and went on his way. Later that evening, and different supervisor checked in with me and said "So-and-so has you on the schedule for this weekend" and I was like "Um, nope!"

Explained my situation to the second dude, and he told me I was on the list so I "have to show up" or I'd be written up for missing a scheduled shift. I informed him then and there that I was absolutely not coming in, and come that weekend, I didn't.

Monday rolls around and I head in for my regular shift, get called into the office. They start in with the disciplinary action, ask me to sign off on it saying "I understand blah blah blah" and I told them I wasn't signing a thing because I never agreed to work and it was on them for putting me on a volunteer shift I didn't volunteer for. Then I walked off the job.

If it's at-will employment, you can just do that if you want. There's nothing forcing you to work an extra week or two, it's a courtesy given so you're leaving on better terms if you need something from them in the future.

Back when I worked sales, I knew a person who left for lunch and never came back. After 2 hours elapsed, either a coworker or a manager called them and they mentioned that they called a manager from another store (who was one of the company's higher-ups) to let them know they quit. And another person flat-out ghosted us. Not that I completely blame them, supposedly they didn't have any customers some weekdays.

I feel like that would be a good thing. No costumers means getting paid to do basically nothing. Depending on the store and how they were paid. If commission, then fuck that. But wage or salary, Im good...

Worst job I ever had, and I worked under the table for most of my childhood, was working for Sears selling TVs in Vancouver WA. We had just moved there so it was the best job I could get on short notice, and it was commision based, with draw.

NOBODY bought TVs at that sears because it was 10 minutes to cross the bridge to portland OR and have no sales tax (and we have very high sales tax here in WA). The other guy who worked there was a serious alcoholic (We actually gave him all my wife's old alcohol cause I didn't drink and she stopped).

I would just stand around all day, and even if I ever did get a sale, we were in draw so we still just got min wage. Sadly back then I didn't think about bringing a book with me to work or something to do, and just stood around like a moron (I was very work concious and would not do something like that on a job back then).

I eventually had us move back to Hayward CA and transfered to a Sears there, which was very busy and I was making over $20 an hour (And this was over 20 years ago), on commission. That was WAY better.

God that job sucked though. I SUCK at standing around doing nothing. I would rather work a job for $10 an hour that kept me busy, over a job that paid $20 an hour and I had to just freaking stand around.

The problem was being to work conscious. I'm not saying do anything to get you fired. But bring something to entertain yourself. Like how you said you never brought a book. Bringing one would have made it better. I know a girl who I worked with shortly who was always currently reading. Me, I bring games and my phone to work. So, I always have something to do. I can read stuff on my phone, or play a game to pass the time. Watch some videos or something. I don't mind doing what I would do at home while I'm at work. People have even invited their significant others there...

I walked out of a dishwashing job after it was clear that the boss was actively fucking me over. I worked Friday, Saturday, Sunday. I had a talk with the boss after my Sunday shift (which was around 3am the Monday morning, and I had university classes at 9am) about the many problems she was giving me and I told her that things needed to change. When I came to work the next Friday, not only did she not make those changes, she double downed and made the problems worse. So I handed her my apron and told her to go fuck herself for $8 an hour, and I walked out.

Unfortunately the boss made the rest of the kitchen staff cover my job as well as their own jobs that shift instead of actually stepping in, so I wasn't popular with the employees there after that.

Yeah, this was pre-2000 so not a ton of options for portable games (think nintendo had one back then), but it was mainly me just being work concious like you said. Also I was in the military (not that many years before) and your kinda expected to wait alot (especially when I was working as a courier for awhile), and certainly not allowed to read etc while reading.

Now of course that has changed and people literally look for jobs like that so they can game/read etc. Seriously no joke I pretty much wanted to off myself because that job was killing me. I am, and have never been, good at just sitting around doing nothing. It's why I decided to leave the AF in fact after the gulf war ended. I left and immediatly went to a vocational school to become an electronic tech (9 months, 8 hours a day m-f) while working graveyard at Carl's Jnr (40 hours a week). Was much more work/effort than the military, but I was constantly busy (also 50% off the food at Carl's Jnr!!).

It's why I also hate jails, I consider being stuck in a cell the ultimate torture and would rather die than ever be put in such a situation even for a few months. It's made the last 6 months not fun at all as well, even though I have games/tv shows and movies, and books to read. It could be worse, but it's still not a ton of options and I do get bored doing the same things day after day.

It weird that they were mad at you instead of the boss... You can only do so much. That sort of reminds me of another job I had. Only because of the works days, though my problem was different.

I worked at a Subway in Wal-Mart. A couple days, my boss ask me to work in his other Subway in the gas station. Eventually, I started working there every Saturday. And then he stopped giving me shifts at the other one. So, I was only working one day a week and it was Saturday. He gave me off one Saturday, I got a new number during the week, and he was never able to call me to give me my next work day. I went like 2-3 months later to get my final paycheck. I had forgetting about it. But some ladies (who I never met) knew my grandma and sister, and told them about my check still being there...

Another problem with the job is that I worked with this one douche who made me do all the dishes all day. I dont mind doing some, but I wasnt a dishwasher. I liked making sandwiches. And I hated dishes... So, I was fine with leaving... Plus, the douche was super into the rules... So, yeah...

I figured it was a while ago, which is why I suggest maybe a book or something... And even after all the hurry up and waiting for the military, I figured why waste my time doing nothing while waiting. Haha. Though, we could read while waiting in the military... As long as it was study material...

If you want a job in the Air Force thats constantly working, you gotta get a maintenance job on a shitty aircraft. Then youre constantly working...

I can do the same thing everyday to a degree. I could play games everyday as long as I have multiple different games. Or watch YouTube if they are different youtubers and videos...
