Do you expect a meltdown of right-wing groups when they hear this news?

The National Football League plans to have the song Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing performed live or played on recording every WEEK 1 game when they return tot he field as the song is considered by many as the Black National Anthem!!

This would precede the traditional performance of the Star Spangled Banner as the report comes from an anonymous source from The Undefeated, an ESPN offshoot focused on sports, race and culture.

The NFL is trying to find ways to recognize victims of police brutality as these plans are under consideration including listing the names of violence victims on uniforms through decals affixed to helmets and jerseys and the NFL to produce educational programs.

The song appeared as a poem written by NAACP leader James Weldon Johnson and was turned intoa song by his brother, John Rosamond in 1899 that was dubbed the first Black National Anthem

The anticipated game is set to return on Sept 10 where NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has finally not bend to Trump's demand on banning kneeling and could see the return of Colin Kaepernick if a team signs him. They plan on increasing its social justice commitment to 250 million over a 10 year period

Do you expect any meltdowns from right-wing groups upon this news?

When I first heard the name, I thought it was that Christian gospel one or something.

I expect the news outlets will report this is what happened. But those on the right don't get offended by every little thing like the left does.

Yes, this is what BLM wants. Don't defund the police. Don't stop killing black people for no reason. Big corporations making meaningless gestures is all they need.

LOL

The entire right wouldn't melt down if the NFL protested police brutality? The entire right melted down when a football player briefly protested police brutality.

I don't think these corporations have the power to just change laws or decide how much funding the police get, why do people keep saying stuff like this?

Everybody except the far-left was either annoyed or outraged by his purposeful disdain for the USA, a nation that gave him everything. However, they didn't riot like the far-left would and does.

Youre right. Because rioting over taking a knee during the national anthem, would be far far more ridiculous than rioting over the continued abuse of the system by police and those in positions of power.

But you dont say it that way, because then everyone would see at first glance how utterly ridiculous it is.

They have money. Lots of it. If they really cared, they could spend a sizable amount of money lobbying for such changes and/or funding community initiatives to help obviate police, making an actual difference without even necessarily impacting the quality of life of their executives. Instead, they make token PR gestures and each exec buys a spare spare yacht.

He purposely chose to do so during the anthem in front of the flag. You guys can say iTs NoT aBoUt ThE fLaG oR tHe AnThEm all you want. But if its not actually about the flag and then anthem, why do it during the anthem in front of the flag? It turns out that some people arent fond of demonstrating during a moment that should bring us all together. And they have the right to feel that way.

He probably chose that moment because it would get the most notice, if he starts kneeling during the middle of the game no one would even notice if he kneels during half-time no one would notice. This is like saying man MLK Jr. shouldn't have marched into cities with a large crowd he should have done it more respectfully and had huge rallies inside a church. MLK did that because he wanted to bring attention to the issue even though some of his allies would get beaten or had dogs attack them for those marches.

I forgot about how statues attacked and killed people. And it's also interesting that you say "police abuse" when the movement is called BLACK Lives Matter (nothing about police in it) and one of the biggest protests involved a suspect who was killed because he went for an officer's gun (a fact acknowledged even by the anti-police Obama), something that in no way constitutes "police abuse" and whose slogan is still repeated long after being debunked.

But you don't say it that way, because then everyone would see at first glance how utterly ridiculous it is.

Then they should go with a better song. How about something all inclusive that demonstrates unity? For instance, Michael Jackson's "Black or White"?

lolwut? That ridiculous narrative again? I've been to military funerals and I can't recall one where soldiers took a knee instead of having their hand over their heart or saluting.

The ONLY time taking a knee is a sign of respect is when you're doing so for Daenarys Stormborn, Mother of Dragons, Breaker of Chains, First of Her Name. That's the ONLY time.

This as well, tbh. Which is why Michael Jackson's "Black or White" would be a better selection.

There are plenty of other non-anthem times you can kneel, as well as doing it on your off-time instead of company time.

Which does what exactly? Like Monopoman said, he did it during the anthem to bring attention to it. Not just for funsies... Doing it on his off-time doesnt do much, if anything at all...
