37 y/o Actress, Alison Brie posted on instagram her REGRET for voicing an asian character by the name of Diane Nguyen, a Vietnamese american writer on Netflix's BoJack Horseman!!

She said "We missed a great opportunity to represent vietnamese-american community accurately and respectfully"

Her decision follows other actors and actresses who are stepping down voicing animated People of Colour roles including Mike Henry on Family Guy, Central Park's Kristen Bell and Big Mouth's Jenny Slate.

The Simpsons yesterday said that they will no longer hire white actors for non-white characters. Hank Azaria has been the voice of Black character Carlton Carlson and Kwik-E-Mart favourite Apu for decades that has long been criticized for stereotypical depiction of an Immigrant Immigrant. He announced back in January he won't be playing him anymore as Harry Shearer will also stop voicing Dr. Julius M. Hibbert

BoJack Horseman ran for 6 seasons ending back in January and is considered a hallmark for Netflix's animated lineup garnering critical acclaim as the racial miscasting of Diane Nguyen was criticized by some

Voice Acting is one form of acting in which appearance and ethnicity DOESN'T matter, as long as they are to provide a proper voice that suits the character.

It's almost like a movement based on deeply racist concepts which endorsed deeply racist individuals would lead to racist decisions or something. >_> Granted, some of this also comes from the fact that foreign state actors have actively co-opted and directed SJW movements to sow division and chaos (which were among the FBI's findings after the 2016 elections), ultimately trying to weaken the US. Not that it's the first time that a so-called "liberal" movement has largely been pushed by outside interests, considering that Russia actively radicalized Americans in the past, and the US has used the same tactic to topple nations.

Of course, in the case of actors, the decision often has nothing to do with their social conscience or beliefs, but instead an attempt to future-proof themselves from the angry mob who might someday demand their head. Considering that companies have repeatedly refused to have their talents' back in such matters, it's a survival thing.

Like that time they got Brie Lawson to play an Asian person. Minorities are already severely underrepresented. We can't give poc roles to white people. Especially when they do it in a denigrating way like Jimmy Kimmel.

Minorities are underrepresented because they are just that....minorities.

The law of probability says if white people make up around 77% of the population, then you best bet 77% of the people applying/trying out for a role or job are going to be white. And yes that 77% adds white Hispanics into the equation, I can guarantee you, being one myself, no one ever considers us anything but white. Most of the time no one notices when me and my family are Puerto Rican.

Representation will NEVER be equal until the population is equal like some sort of pizza pie that goes 20/20/20/20/20. You can not expect 23%ish of the population to evenly fill roles in every single job ever (all while ignoring no one cares if minorities fill low-prestige jobs evenly). It is just simple mathematics.

But they're not protesting to stop police brutality, they're protesting to stop harm to BLACKS, hence the name "Black Lives Matter" and the fact that they don't have wide-scale outrage over the use of force against non-blacks even if it involves a cop shooting an unarmed suspect multiple times in the back from less than 5 feet away. It's also why #BLM is used *outside* of incidents involving police.

Not sure if you're doing a bit, but most of his activities on that account and all of his accounts have seem aimed at me. I guess the topics purged, but he had posted 2 of them attacking me within the last month (one was, hypocritically enough, an accusation of being an alt -- which is rich coming from a guy with as many alts as he has). I'm not sure if he realized I'd removed Jonesville from my ignore because I couldn't remember why I blocked it or if he been posting those kinds of topics all along the same way he's used his Clark account to try to harass me despite knowing I've had it ignored for over a year. Honestly, it's one reason why I'm so opposed to just handing out welfare so people don't have to work, because it gives guys like him too much time on their hands to cause mischief. (Granted, thanks to the irresponsible government-mandated shutdowns, a lot of people have time on their hands regardless now.)
