next gen. unfortunately, the next gen versions of the game are scheduled for some time in 2021.

good thing microsoft has smart delivery, sucks that playstation expects you to rebuy everything

Same. I'm always reminded of that Miyamoto quote about game delays whenever this happens. I'm eager to play it, but not so eager that I want to play an unfinished product.

I mean, as much as Miyamoto's quote on the matter was wise at the time, the fact that post-launch patches are a thing now kind of renders it untrue. The all-too-common philosophy of "ship it broken and we'll fix it with patches later" is bad and just results in a frustrating experience for people who trusted the developer to make an enjoyable game, but the other extreme of delaying a game until it's perfect has stopped being all that reasonable. It's now quite justifiable to release a game that's "good enough," then spend some time patching it to be even better and truly complete it.

Still, my attitude toward delays hasn't changed. If they need extra time to get it good enough, I'm fine with waiting. Absolute perfectionism isn't really necessary anymore, though, which is what Miyamoto's quote kind of suggests.

Not a shock. Not only are next gen systems out around that time but we are in a pandemic.

Fixing bugs means most are going to ironed out. As for not living up to the hype? That remains to be seen. Whatever the case I'd rather games be as bug free as possible.

Especially since the current clusterfuck means developers would have been stuck at home for the last few months, so they'd be set back farther than they'd planned to be when they came up with that original release date.

Cyberpunk and Vampire: Bloodlines 2 are pretty much the only games I'm looking forward to at this point, and I'd happily have them delayed for another year if it meant they're not broken glitchy messes when they get released.

Considering your RP predilections, you should buy Cyberpunk 2020 and just run the most awesome campaign ever, with focus on her as the "star" and whatever other players you can get to play filling more supporting roles (as opposed to the more balanced spotlight that GMs should usually be aiming for).

Granted, you can't get Keanu Reeves to show up (or CAN you? Dude seems like a super-cool guy in real life, he might be up for playing in your campaign if you e-mail him and explain the situation), but with a little effort you could probably run a story that winds up being cooler than the actual video game will ever be.

Yeah because Capcom is totally going to add back in all the cut content from the original resident evil 3 back into the remake. This is the most recent example I can think of where a game could have been a lot better had it been given the time it needed to create something as good as its predecessor (RE2 remake).
